In the state, 18 lakh 52 thousand 820 hectares of Kharif crops have been sown, which is 38 percent of the target. So far, paddy has been sown in 15 lakh 83 thousand 420 hectares under Kharif crops. Apart from this, sowing of coarse cereals in 96,360 hectares, pulses in 62,130 hectares, oilseeds in 55,230 hectares and vegetable and other crops in 55,680 hectares has been completed.
In the current rainy season, the state has recorded 265.3 mm of rainfall as on July 10, which is 89 per cent of the 10 years’ average rainfall of 297.9 mm during the same period. This year sowing of Kharif crops has been affected due to disorientation of monsoon. Last year, Kharif crops were sown in 23,48,660 hectares in Kharif season, which was 49.3 percent of the target of sowing. As on July 11 this year, 38 percent sown has been sown in the state against the target.
