Raipur: Skill mapping to provide skill-based employment to migrant workers: Ready-to-eat being given to children and pregnant women in quarantine centers

Raipur, 06 June 2020. In Chhattisgarh, workers coming back from different states of the country are being kept in quarantine centers. On the direction of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, skill mapping is also being done to connect the workers with employment according to their skills. Also, ready-to-eat arrangements are being made by the Women and Child Development Department for pregnant women and children living in quarantine centers.

Eggs were also distributed to the quarantine center of Jagdalpur along with ready-to-eat food, including 21 pregnant mothers, 7 infant mothers, 47 children. In addition, sanitary pads were distributed to 86 women.
The committee has been constituted by the district administration to skill the workers coming back to the district on the basis of their skill and link them to employment. 4 thousand 933 workers have returned to quarantine centers operated in the seven development blocks of the district, whose skill mapping was done, in which 2122 laborers, 269 electricians, 133 mation, 64 drivers, 87 handpumps mechanic, 47 carpenters, 172 oil packing, 593 agricultural works. Skills in skilled work including kitchen, painter, blacksmith, sewing, welding, receptionist. The district administration is trying to provide employment opportunities to these workers on the basis of their skill. Collector Mr. Rajat Bansal has instructed all the district CEOs of the district to make job cards of the visitors living in the quarantine center of their district area as per rules. Along with this, instructions have been given to get MNREGA works identified and sanctioned immediately around the campus of Quarantine Center.
Quarantine centers are being operated at the district and panchayat level for migrant workers and individuals by the Chhattisgarh government to prevent corona infection. Where the district administration has ensured that their stay, food, drinking water, medical, sanitation etc. are being arranged as per the instructions of the state government. Special care has been made in these centers for the health check up of pregnant women, children and elderly people. For these arrangements, necessary funds have been provided to the Panchayats from the 14th Finance Commission and the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund.
451 quarantine centers have been set up by the Bastar district administration in the seven development blocks and the Nagar Panchayat Bastar. Quarantine centers have been set up in district Darbha, 49 in district Bastar, 37 in district Lohandiguda, 72 in Jagdalpur, 34 in district Tokapal, 130 in district Bakavand, 88 in district Bastar and 1 in Nagar Panchayat Bastar. From time to time, all the people living in the quarantine center are being administered by the administration. The people living in these centers are also being given health care decoction along with anti-disease medicine by the Department of AYUSH. Yogaasanas are also being conducted in the morning to reduce mental stress in the centers.
