Raipur: Silk pest rearing created additional income for tribal farmers of Vananchal

 Raipur, 13 October 2020. Sericulture has become an additional source of income for the tribal farmers of Vananchal. About 10-12 laborers of village Jorandajaria of Farsabhar development block of Jashpur district showed interest in the production of tussar cocoon in relation to employment. Seeing their interest and will, the silk department formed a group of them and trained them in skilled rearing. Disease-free eggs of tusser insect were also given to this group free of cost. This group produced one lakh 38 thousand 926 tusser cocoons for the first time in the year 2016-17 and earned an income of one lakh 10 thousand 214. Wages from Mahatma Gandhi NREGA first and then assisted employment in the form of cocoon production have made the group members enthusiastic in this task. The group has produced a total of 2 lakh 75 thousand 454 koshals from the year 2016-17 to 2019-20 and has earned an income of two lakh 88 thousand rupees. This income department in the form of wages
    Approximately 161 people have got employment of 7 thousand 143 man-days in Arjun plant planting and maintenance work in village Jorandajaria in Farsabhar development block, 125 km from Jashpur district headquarters. In these works being done through MNREGA, wages of 9 lakh 68 thousand rupees have been paid. About two lakh 61 thousand Arjuna saplings have been planted in the 59 hectare area by the Silk Department in Jorandajaria. Which are now spreading greenery in the form of green trees. This tusser plantation in Jorandajaria village has written a new story of development from greenery. With this, 59 hectare area of ​​the village is protected and now looks green from far away. In this village, with the help of tusser food plantation and production of cocoa, the work is being done to provide employment to tribal families. About a decade ago, the silk department planted 2 lakh 5 thousand Arjun saplings under tussar food plantation in 50 hectare area from departmental item in this village.
