Candidates of SI recruitment exam in Raipur demonstrated on Saturday demanding release of result soon. Everyone had gone to CM House to request the Chief Minister. However, he was stopped midway by the security forces. A girl said that her mother taught me by selling her gold jewellery, but now that she is not getting employment, the villagers are taunting her.

When the police stopped the candidates before they could reach the Chief Minister’s residence, all the protesters reached Telibandha Pond and started protesting peacefully. Their demand is that the results should be released before the election code of conduct is implemented and they should also get joining. Earlier on Tuesday also, the candidates had submitted a memorandum at the residence of CM and Deputy CM demanding release of the results soon. The candidate girl became emotional.

When Dainik Bhaskar talked to candidate Shraddha, resident of Janjgir-Champa, she emotionally told that, mother has taught me by selling her gold jewellery. As he is getting older, the village people taunt him because he is not recruited.

Nisha, a candidate resident of Janjgir-Champa, said that I request Kaka to release the result of Sub Inspector recruitment. My brother is ill and is undergoing treatment at Mekahara. If my result comes then my brother will be happy.

The candidates who came from different districts of the state demanding release of exam results and appointment said that the process from physical examination to interview for the recruitment of Sub Inspector, Subedar and Platoon Commander has been completed on September 8. If the code of conduct is imposed then their recruitment may be stopped.

Candidates say that even before this we have met MLAs and ministers, but no one has given us any assurance. On Tuesday, we went to the Chief Minister’s residence, Deputy CM’s residence and the police headquarters in Nava Raipur and requested for the release of the results.

The recruitment process was completed in these stages-

June-July 2022- Physical measurement
29 January 2023- Preliminary Exam
26th May 2023 to 29th May 2023 – Main Exam
From 18th July 2023 to 30th July 2023- Physical Efficiency Test
From 17 August 2023 to 08 September 2023 – Interview exam. Army level exam has been given.

Candidate Sushil Kumar said that since 2018 I have been preparing for Sub Inspector exam. During this period, I also cleared the pre-exam of 2019 and 2021 PSC exam. I was not able to prepare for the mains exam because I used to practice running on the ground. I was not able to understand which exam I should prepare for. Because of that, 5 years of my time was wasted.

Our result has not been released yet. SI recruitment exam in Chhattisgarh has been conducted in five phases. We have given the physical exam of the level which is physical in the army. We have given the kind of physical exam at the age of 30 which is given by 18 year old boys in the army. We fear that our recruitment may be stopped due to elections, hence we are demanding results and joining before the implementation of the code of conduct. Recruitment is taking place in all the departments, but it is stopped in the police department only.

Mukesh Sahu said that today recruitment is taking place in all departments. There was a case in the High Court in the Education Department also, after getting relief from the court, the government completed the recruitment process in three months and got the joining done. The government is recruiting in the education and health departments. But the recruitment of Sub Inspector in the Police Department which has come since 2018 has not been done till date. We demand from the government to release the result of SI police recruitment. The matter is pending in the High Court.

Many petitions have been filed in the High Court against the recruitment. The petitioners say that Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board is committing huge irregularities in the police recruitment process. Women are being recruited for the post of platoon commander. The marks of the written examination are also not being released. Although those who petitioned against the recruitment have not received relief, hearing on these petitions is pending in the High Court.

Controversy regarding platoon commander

According to the petition, out of the total posts, 247 posts have been reserved for Platoon Commander. It was clarified in the advertisement that women candidates will not be eligible for recruitment to the post of Platoon Commander. Even after this, more than four thousand women have been considered eligible.

Due to this, eligible male candidates have been hindered from the selection process. Along with this, 1900 posts are sanctioned for Ex-Servicemen, while the total number of eligible candidates is around 450. The first advertisement for recruitment was released in 2018.

Advertisement was issued for recruitment to 655 posts of Sub Inspector, Subedar and Platoon Commander in August 2018 during the Raman government. The recruitment process was stopped after the code of conduct and change of government in the state. After the candidates’ agitation, the Congress government had increased the posts in 2021 and issued advertisement for 975 posts.
