Tomorrow, on 23rd February, Governor Shri Vishwabhushan Harichandan is completing one year as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. It is a matter of good fortune for Chhattisgarh that a litterateur and a sensitive person holds a high constitutional post as the Governor. The doors of Raj Bhavan remain open for everyone. People from every section, class and society come to meet the Governor and leave satisfied. The Governor finds the people of Chhattisgarh very simple and easy-going and he meets everyone with cordiality.

    After assuming the post of Governor and Chancellor, Shri Harichandan, as Chancellor, first took a meeting of the Vice Chancellors of all the universities of the state and after taking information about the activities and problems of their universities, gave instructions to provide quality education. He says that the convocation ceremony is an important stage in a student’s life and it also impacts his/her future. Therefore, all universities should conduct convocation ceremonies on time. Following his instructions, convocation ceremonies were organized in 11 government and private universities of the state and various degrees and medals were awarded to about 4 lakh students. As Chancellor, he inspires students to serve the nation and work for the poor, exploited and deprived classes. He believes that it is necessary to take the youth of this country with the highest youth population in a positive direction.

President Smt. Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar had visited Chhattisgarh during this period. He highly appreciated the hospitality of Chhattisgarh Raj Bhavan.
    Developed India/2047 campaign is being run in the country on the special initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. To connect the youth with this campaign, under the direction of the Governor, workshops of various universities of the state were organized at Raj Bhavan. The Governor believes that to make this mission successful, innovative ideas of the youth will have to be included in nation building. By using youth power we can take India forward as a developed and strong India.

The unique initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is being implemented under the direction of Governor Shri Harichandan. Under this, till now the foundation day of 26 states and 7 union territories has been celebrated in a very celebratory atmosphere at the Raj Bhavan under the program ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. This program aimed at promoting the spirit of unity in diversity has so far (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, West Bengal, Telangana, Goa, Assam, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Foundation Day celebrations of Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Union Territories of Ladakh, Chandigarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu) Has been celebrated since.

Under the *Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam* programme, students studying in colleges of different states are visiting each other’s states and getting acquainted with the food, culture and lifestyle of those places. In this series, students from Goa and Nagaland also reached Chhattisgarh. The Governor met him and also exchanged views. He says that students should do such work which makes the country proud and the objective of One India, Great India can be fulfilled.
On the initiative of Governor Shri Harichandan, the broadcast of the 100th episode of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” program was heard at Raj Bhavan. Shri Modi interacted with the personalities of Chhattisgarh in various episodes of the program and also mentioned them. Referring to wood craftsman Shri Ajay Mandavi, he had said that he is showing the right path to the misguided youth of Naxal affected areas. Similarly, he had mentioned the women self-help group of village Deurgaon of Saja development block of Bemetara district, who by joining the cleanliness campaign, are running a campaign to clean the roads and streets of their village. The Governor invited all those personalities to Raj Bhavan and welcomed them and congratulated them.   

Our sensitive Governor has special attention to the health of the people of the state. Prime Minister T.B. Under the Free India Campaign, the state will be TB free by the year 2025. The goal is to be free from disease. He obtained at least 100 T.B. from the intelligentsia of the society, business and industrial organizations, vice-chancellors of universities, banks and other organizations. Gave momentum to the campaign by appealing to the patients for adoption. He himself became Nikshay Mitra and adopted 51 patients of Dantewada and provided them Rs 2 lakh for providing additional nutritional food. Shri Harichandan is also actively involved in Red Cross activities. He also appeals to all District Collectors and college students to join the Red Cross in maximum numbers and also boost the morale of blood donors by visiting camps.

From time to time, Shri Harichandan has expressed concern about the rapidly increasing pollution in the world. He says that if we do not stop pollution now, it will take the form of an epidemic. Shortly after assuming the charge of Governor, he gave the message of environmental cleanliness to the public by declaring Raj Bhavan and its surrounding area as a single use plastic free zone. Whatever program he attends, he definitely plants trees, this shows his immense love for the environment. He also appeals to the youth to be proud of their nation, their culture and always come forward to help the deprived sections.

On the 75th anniversary of independence, “Amrit Mahotsav” of independence was celebrated across the country in the memory of the freedom fighters and unsung heroes of the freedom struggle. Under this program, “Mera Mati-Mera Desh” Amrit Kalash Yatra was organized at the Raj Bhavan, in which soil was collected from all the development blocks of the state and brought to the Raj Bhavan in honor of the martyrs. The Governor paid floral tributes to the Amrit Kalash filled with sacred soil and they were sent for the construction of Amrit Vatika on Kartavya Path in New Delhi. He expressed his gratitude by honoring the families of the martyrs.  

 The Governor himself is a member of a freedom fighter family. In this regard, we always express our gratitude towards the countless martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. In this series, great men and leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who made unforgettable contributions to the country’s independence, sovereignty, integrity, protection of democracy and human welfare. Have contributed. The Governor has started a new tradition at Raj Bhavan to pay tribute to him on his birth anniversary and death anniversary and to remember his contribution.   

Many ordinances and 43 bills were approved during the one year tenure of the Governor. He appointed Vice Chancellors in 6 private universities including Pt. Ravi Shankar University, Raipur.

He considers this one year tenure as full of satisfaction and wants to remain active and always work for the public.
