Today, a one day conference cum workshop of forest division level shepherds was organised in Barnawapara Sanctuary for the conservation and promotion of tigers roaming in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district for the past 06 months. In the workshop, detailed information about tiger’s behaviour and other activities was shared in detail by Deputy Forest Divisional Magistrate Kasdol IFS Akshay Dinkar Bhosale through a power point presentation. He discussed in detail about the activities done in the tiger movement area, the standard operating procedure set for tracking, and the food habits and behaviour of various wild animals in the movement area.
Divisional Forest Officer Balodabazar Mayank Agarwal shared detailed information about the tiger roaming in the area for the last 6 months. For monitoring, continuous monitoring of tiger movement is being done with the help of 250 trap cameras under the forest division. A tiger monitoring team has been formed with the help of special local villagers for the protection of tigers. Shepherds and villagers present in the workshop were appealed to immediately inform in case of any kind of loss of life, human injury, animal loss, crop loss, and other property damage in forest areas and to immediately inform the forest department on getting information about illegal hunting and wild animals.
Along with this, the departmental officers informed that the compensation amount provided by the government is Rs. 6 lakh in case of loss of life caused by wild animals, Rs. 2 lakh in case of complete disability, Rs. 5 lakh 91 thousand in case of general public injury, maximum Rs. 30 thousand in case of animal loss and compensation amount as per assessment in case of damage to crops, houses and other things. The villagers were informed about the confidential reward amount provided by the Forest Department on informing the Forest Department on priority on information about illegal hunting, electricity hooking and other illegal activities in forest areas. If the villagers have any kind of problem related to the Forest Department, they were urged to inform the nearest forest officer / check posts as per convenience so that problems can be resolved by taking immediate action.
