A proposal to include Chhattisgarh’s Pabiya, Pavia, Paviya castes in the list of Scheduled Tribes along with Paw caste was sent to the Government of India
The delegation of the caste which has been waiting to be included in the Scheduled Tribe for years, met the Chief Minister and expressed gratitude
The Tribal Research and Training Institute of Chhattisgarh has recommended inclusion of these castes in the Scheduled Tribes on the basis of their characteristics.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has taken a sensitive initiative to include the Pabiya, Pavia, Paviya castes of Chhattisgarh, who have been waiting for years to get the Scheduled Tribe certificate, along with the Paw caste in the list of Scheduled Tribes. The Chief Minister has sent the ethnic study report of these castes along with recommendations to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for further action.
A delegation of people from Paw, Pabiya, Paviya and Paviya castes from across the state, under the leadership of MLA Ramkumar Yadav, met Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai in the committee room of the Legislative Assembly today and thanked him for this sensitive initiative.
Addressing the delegation, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that you people had been demanding inclusion in the list of scheduled tribes for a long time. The state government has sent a report with recommendations to the Government of India. It is hoped that this will yield positive results. He thanked the delegation for coming to Raipur from all over the state in the rainy season.
The delegation told the Chief Minister that during the time of Madhya Pradesh, their Scheduled Tribe certificates were being made, but due to quantitative error, the certificates have been stopped for the last 22 years, due to which our children are not getting the benefits of Scheduled Tribe category. Our children are not able to progress in studies. They thanked Chief Minister Shri Sai for sending a report with recommendations to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
The delegation informed that the population of these castes in the entire state is about 22 thousand. Although these people are found in the entire state but they mainly live in Chandrapur, Raigarh, Lalunga, Kharsia, Pendra, Marwahi and Jashpur.
After conducting an ethnographic study of the Paw, Pabiya, Pavia and Pawiya castes, the Tribal Research and Training Institute of Chhattisgarh has prepared a report in which it has been recommended to include these castes in the Scheduled Tribes on the basis of their characteristics.
MLA Shri Ramkumar Yadav said that Chief Minister Shri Sai is a sensitive Chief Minister. The people of the caste present today are actually tribals, but they are not getting the benefits. The Chief Minister has taken a good initiative in their interest. He requested to provide land in Raipur for the social building of the society.
The Chief Minister has closely felt the pain of the tribes
It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai himself is from the Scheduled Tribe category. He has worked for the Scheduled Tribes including Birhor, Pahari Korwa since the beginning of his public life, so he knows the pain of the tribes very well.
