Farmers of the state have so far received input subsidy of Rs 20,103 crore

On August 20, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the second installment of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana amounting to Rs 1894 crore 93 lakh will be released. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel will transfer the amount online to 24 lakh 52 thousand 592 farmers in their bank accounts in the program organized in Mahasamund. Under this scheme, the amount of the remaining two installments will be transferred to the farmers in the months of October and March, which will be around Rs 4000 crore. The Chhattisgarh government has made a provision of Rs 6800 crore under this scheme in the current financial year, but in view of the number of registered farmers, acreage and record purchase of paddy in the last Kharif season, the amount of input subsidy given to farmers under this scheme This amount is estimated to be around 8000 crores. Paddy, kodo-kutki, ragi, pulses-oilseeds, among the beneficiaries under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.
It may be noted that under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, for the purpose of reducing the cost of agriculture and promoting crop diversification, farmers producing Kharif crops are being given an input subsidy of Rs 9,000 per acre. Under this scheme implemented from Kharif year 2019, input subsidy of Rs 20 thousand 103 crore has been given to the farmers of the state so far. Including the second installment amount to be received under this scheme in the current financial year, this figure will be Rs 21,997 crore 96 lakh.
Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, 18.43 lakh paddy growers of Kharif year 2019 were distributed as input subsidy of Rs 5627 crore 2 lakh at the rate of Rs 10 thousand per acre, while 20.59 lakh paddy growers of Kharif year 2020 were distributed. 5553 crore 8 lakh rupees were paid to the farmers in their bank accounts. From the year 2021, all kharif crops and horticulture crops have been included in this scheme and productive farmers are being given input subsidy of Rs 9 thousand per acre per year. In the year 2020-21, there is a provision to give an input subsidy of Rs 10,000 per acre for cultivation of other crops, horticulture crops or tree plantation instead of paddy in the area where paddy was sold at the minimum support price. In the Kharif year 2021, input subsidy of Rs 7028 crore has been paid to 23.35 lakh farmers producing various crops, horticulture crops in their bank accounts.
Due to the input subsidy being given to the farmers in Chhattisgarh under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, agriculture has got a big boost in the state. The trend of the people who have given up farming has again increased towards farming. Compared to the year 2017-18, the number of farmers selling paddy in the state has increased by more than 11 lakh and the amount of paddy procured has doubled. Every year from the year 2018-19 till now, a record amount of paddy has been procured in the state. Chhattisgarh has become the second number state in the country in terms of providing paddy in the Central Pool. If seen in terms of the number of farmers selling paddy at the support price, the state of Chhattisgarh ranks first in the country.
