It is normal to have cold and fever due to the change in the weather. Due to incessant rains and subsequent strong sunlight, the environment becomes favorable for the spread of the virus. The fever that occurs in this situation is called viral fever or seasonal fever. Even though this type of fever gets better on its own in four to six days, the weakness and other problems caused by it persist for several days. It is very common to have this type of fever as the weather changes, but it should not be ignored.
Director, Epidemic Control Dr. Subhash Mishra said that at present, viruses like cold-cough, ispatary virus, adeno, syncytial etc. are more active. These viruses are active only when the humidity is high. The sunlight after the water has fallen provides more favorable weather for the virus. In such a situation, these viruses present in the environment take hold of people. Dr. Mishra has advised children to keep them away from dirt, to save them from getting wet again and again. He has asked to feed nutritious food to increase the immunity of children.
Why does viral fever happen?
With the change in weather, many types of viruses start growing rapidly in our environment. People whose immune system is weak, their body is not able to compete with these viruses. So they start having problems like fever and cold. Having a fever is a kind of protective action. When you come into contact with a virus, your immune system raises your body temperature to reduce the effect of the virus.
What are the symptoms of viral fever?
Common symptoms of viral fever include headache, body ache, prolonged fever and non-reducing fever even with the use of medicines. Some other symptoms of fever are joint pain, body rash, flushing of face and vomiting. If you see any of these symptoms, go to your doctor immediately. If you have fever, take complete rest. Eat hot and liquid food like soup and khichdi till you recover.
Do not take antibiotics and pain relievers on your own when you are sick without consulting a doctor. Antibiotics are used to kill bacteria, not viruses. Such medicines invite acidity and stomach ailments. The course of medicine as prescribed by the doctor should be completed even if you feel better from the disease. If you stop taking antibiotics in the middle of the course of the drug, the resistance of the bacteria may not develop. This increases the chances of you and the people around you suffering from the disease once again.
how to prevent viral fever
Viral fever gets cured on its own in a few days with proper diet and controlled lifestyle. But to cure the problems caused by this, doctors give some pain relievers and antibiotics. Give maximum rest to the body in viral fever. If there is a sore throat or pain, then gargling with salt in lukewarm water is very beneficial. To cure throat pain, gargles can also be done by adding honey and salt in lukewarm water.
To prevent bacteria, it is necessary to wash hands frequently with disinfectant liquid handwash or soap. Stay away from crowds and avoid touching your face, mouth and nose without washing your hands. Avoid eating anything fried and fried outside during the rainy season. Whenever you cough, yawn or sneeze due to viral fever, cover your mouth with a handkerchief. On seeing the initial symptoms, immediately contact your nearest health center and seek the advice of a doctor.
