Raipur. 15 December 2021. Action has been taken to seal the sonography center of Sai Naman Nursing Home of Tumgaon in Mahasamund district by the Health Department team after finding irregularities in record keeping. Along with this, a show cause notice has also been issued to the operator of the center. PCPNDT Act ( PCPNDT – because we found before conception and irregularities in the records maintained in Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques Act) formed sonography by the Health Department of the State and district-level team under center it went to sealed operation. This action has been taken by the team of Dr. Anil Parsai, State Advisor Ms. Varsha Rajput and Dr. Chhatrapal Chandrakar of District Level Inspection Team constituted under the PCPNDT Act. Under the PCPNDT Act, it is necessary to maintain the record of the last two years in the sonography centers.
What is PCPNDT Act ?
The Pre-Conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques ( PCPNDT) Act , 1994 is a federal law passed by the Parliament of India to prevent female feticide and declining sex ratio in India. Pre-natal sex determination is prohibited under this Act.
Under the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique ‘ PNDT ‘ Act 1996 , the sex determination of the child before birth is prohibited. For violation of this , there is a provision of imprisonment of three to five years to the doctor , lab worker who conducts ultrasound or ultrasonography and a fine of ten to 50 thousand rupees.
