The Chhattisgarh State Election Commission has issued a program for the bye-elections to fill the vacant posts of councilors in Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats of various districts of the state. Nominations will be filled from December 16 as per the schedule.
Officials of the State Election Commission said that the electoral rolls for the bye-elections for the posts of 15 ward councilors in 14 urban bodies of 12 districts of the state have been decided to be published on December 06, 2022, after final publication and revision. . For which the program has been issued. Elections to Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats will be held on party basis. Voting will be done by ballot from the ballot box of the State Election Commission. The model code of conduct will remain in force from the date of announcement of election till the completion of election proceedings in such areas of municipality where elections are to be held.
Program for Nagar Palik Nigam, Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayat sub-elections
by State Election Commission under Section 20(2) (a) of Chhattisgarh Municipal Corporation Act 1956, Section 36(2) (a) of Chhattisgarh Municipality Act 1961 and Chhattisgarh According to Rule 21 of the Municipal Election Rules 1994, a time bound program was issued for the by-election. According to which the information of the election will be published by the concerned District Election Officer on December 16 at 10:30 am. Information regarding reservation of seats will be published by the District Election Officer and the list of polling stations will be published by the concerned Returning Officer on December 16 at 10.30 am. Nomination papers will be received on December 16 from 10:30 am to 03:00 pm.
The last date for receiving nomination papers has been fixed till 03:00 pm on December 23. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done from 10:00 am on December 24. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is till 3:00 pm on December 26. Allotment of election symbols will be done on December 26 after the withdrawal of candidature after preparing the list of contesting candidates.
Voting on January 09 and counting of votes on January 12.
Voting (if necessary) for municipal by-election will be held on Monday, January 09, 2023 from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm. Vote counting and election results will be announced on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 09 am.
