Iron Man, architect of national integration, Bharat Ratna, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a great visionary politician of independent India and a strong, steadfast and determined personality. His contribution in building a united India is unforgettable. Governor Shri Harichandan said these things while paying tribute to Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary. 
Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary was celebrated as National Unity Day today. On this occasion, Governor Shri Harichandan paid floral tributes on the portrait of Sardar Patel and administered oath to the officers and employees of Raj Bhavan to maintain the unity, integrity and security of the nation. 
Governor Shri Harichandan, in his brief address, highlighted the personality of Sardar Patel and remembered his contribution in uniting the nation. He said that after independence, Sardar Patel was the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. He worked to strengthen India by successfully completing the challenging task of integration of more than 550 small and big princely states of the country. Amrit Kalash Yatra is being concluded today on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel under the “Mera Mati Mera Desh” campaign organized in the memory of martyrs in New Delhi. Soil brought from every state, every town, every village of the country will be put in Amrit Vatika on the Kartva Path of the capital.
Shri Harichandan said that on his birth anniversary, we should resolve to implement his personality and ideas in life and learn from his disciplined life. 
On this occasion, Secretary to the Governor Mr. Amrit Kumar Khalkho, Legal Advisor Mr. Rajesh Srivastava, Deputy Secretary Mr. Deepak Aggarwal and officials and employees of Raj Bhavan were present.
