Many legal provisions are available to provide protection to women, but even after this women have to face many types of violence in the society. In view of this, the operation of Sakhi One Stop Center has been started to provide all kinds of help under one roof to women of all age groups. These centers are becoming a big support for the afflicted women. In the last 4 years, more than 23 thousand women have been helped here. 7371 cases were registered in the year 2018-19, 5342 in 2019-20, 5324 in 2020-21 and 5697 in the year 2021-22. Apart from getting necessary shelter, facilities and protection, proper advice, legal aid and guidance are also being given to the victimized women in the centre. Sakhi centers are operated in all the 27 old districts of Chhattisgarh, where these centers have brought new hope in the lives of many women.
An 80-year-old woman from Bihar was reunited with her family.
Sakhi One Stop Center of district Surajpur got information about an 80-year-old woman wandering in village-Karwa. The old woman was rescued and brought to the Sakhi Center with the help of the police by Sakhi. In the conversation, the old woman informed about living in Samastipur district, Bihar. Sakhi traced the family members through WhatsApp and social media and informed them. Due to which, on 6th April 2022, the grandson of the victim old woman came to Sakhi to pick up the old woman. Similarly, on February 06, 2021, Sakhi Center got information about a 98-year-old woman found wandering at Surajpur bus stand. On contacting, on 8 February 2021, the family came to take Jan Sakhi. In this way, the safe return of the elderly women separated from the family to their family members made their life happy again.
Woman missing for 8 years found with her relatives
Due to being mentally unwell, the woman of Raigarh left the house without giving information to anyone, after which the family members searched for the said woman in the surrounding and also in the relatives, but no information of any kind was received about the woman. After 8 years, the family members could not believe the information that the said woman was alive and safe through Sakhi One Stop Center Raigarh. The said 42-year-old woman was brought missing in the Government Reception Center of Women and Child Development Department, Bangalore. The woman was mentally unwell, and was unable to give information about herself, so she was treated. On being treated, the woman told her name and address. On the basis of which the Reception Center Tumkur Karnataka informed Sakhi Center Raigarh about the said woman.
The relatives of the woman were traced. Attempts were made several times to get information through video call, then the woman told her name, husband’s name and her own address. On the basis of which, after a lot of efforts, the residence of the woman was found out. After this, in coordination with the concerned police station, the conversation of the said woman was done with the family members. On June 02, 2022, after receiving permission to bring the woman from Reception Center Tumkur, Karnataka to Raigad, on June 26, 2022, Sakhi Center Raigarh, along with the woman’s family members, brother and daughter, made the said woman return home safely. The victim woman was very happy to see her brother and daughter and tears started rolling from her eyes.
Small child met mother with the help of Sakhi One Stop Center
A 25-year-old woman living in Deori village of Bemetara district was beaten up by her in-laws and forced to keep her 4-month-old child and threw them out of the house. The applicant came to the Sakhi One Stop Center after staying at her maternal home for 30 days and lodged a complaint to take back her child. On the complaint of the applicant, the child was handed over to the mother with the help of center in-charge, counselor and case worker of Sakhi One Stop Center and Nawagarh police.
Wandering from Bengal, reached Chhattisgarh, brought the girl to the family
A case came to light in Chhattisgarh when a Bengali girl wandering in search of employment reached Janjgir-Jampa district of Chhattisgarh. She was not able to speak and understand any language other than Bengali. Sakhi One Stop Center operated for him in an unknown place proved to be a support. Not only did the girl get a safe shelter at the Sakhi Centre, but the center worked tirelessly to reunite her with her family. Due to which there is no place for his happiness.
Telugu-speaking stray girl from Andhra Pradesh handed over safely to relatives
On December 13, 2019, Sakhi One Stop Center Raigarh found a Telugu speaking girl wandering. Due to the girl not understanding Hindi, information about her home village and relatives was taken through a Telugu speaking mediator. On the basis of this, Vijayawada police station and Sakhi Center of Andhra Pradesh were contacted and the family members of the girl were contacted and handed over to the girl. The victim reached Vijayawada safely and thanked Sakhi One Stop Center.
