Raipur: Roka Cheka campaign will start in the state from July 1: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has given instructions to start Roka Cheka campaign in the state from July 1 this year like last year to protect the Kharif crops and to save the animals from the diseases of Galghotu and Ektangia during the rainy season. Under the Suraji Gaon Yojna, instructions have also been given to constitute Gauthan committees to make 100 percent Gauthans constructed in villages functional and to develop pastures this year compulsorily in protected land for pastures in Gauthans.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel was addressing the program of transfer of funds to cattle rearers, cow dung vendors, Gauthan committees and women self-help groups under the Godhan Nyay Yojana at his residence office today. On this occasion, the Chief Minister made online payment of total amount of Rs.7 crore 80 lakh as dividend to Gauthan committees and self-help groups including the amount of cow dung purchased in Gauthans from June 1 to June 15. So far, Rs 96.64 crore has been paid to cow dung vendors and Rs 17.55 crore to Gauthan committees and self-help groups under Godhan Nyay Yojana, thus totaling Rs 114.19 crore. Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri Ravinder Choubey, Forest Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar, School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Urban Administration Minister Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahria, Public Health Engineering Minister Shri Guru Rudra Kumar, Industries Minister Shri Kawasi Lakhma, Women And Child Development Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia and Revenue Minister Shri Jaisingh Agarwal, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Subrata Sahu were present.

Addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel said that Godhan Nyay Yojana is such a scheme, the benefits of which have started getting to the society including the beneficiaries of this scheme within a year. He said that 20 percent of the Gauthans functional under this scheme have become self-supporting. The amount spent under the scheme is now coming back. The cattle owners have started getting direct benefits from the purchase of cow dung. Women’s groups have started getting employment and benefits due to the manufacture of other materials from cow dung including vermi compost and super compost. Availability of Vermi Compost and Super Compost and their use will benefit the farmers, by promoting organic farming, production of non-toxic food grains will be done. It will benefit all the people of the society.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that it is necessary to make 100 percent Gauthans manufactured in the state active. He asked the ministers-in-charge to complete the process of formation of Gauthan committees within a week in coordination with the district administration in those Gauthans of the state where Gauthan committees have not been formed. Instructions were also given to reconstitute the inactive Gothan committees. The Chief Minister said that sufficient amount is available with Gauthan committees, which can be used for the maintenance of Gauthans. The Chief Minister said that the Government of India is not supplying chemical fertilizers, DAP and urea as per the requirement of the state for Kharif season. This can be met through vermi compost and super compost manufactured in the state’s Gauthans.

The Chief Minister directed to ensure compulsory sowing of maize, jowar, bajra etc., including Napier grass, in the land reserved for pasture in Gauthans this year. He said that this would ensure availability of green fodder for the animals. Livestock will be healthy and milk production will get a boost. The Chief Minister said that the state of Chhattisgarh requires 3.15 lakh liters of milk daily, while 85 thousand liters of milk is produced in the state. There is a shortage of milk about 4 times. For its fulfillment, it is necessary to promote animal husbandry, protect and promote livestock and better management of fodder. He said that Chhattisgarh should be well nourished, pure milk and milk material should be available to the people as per the requirement, it should be our effort.

Addressing the program, Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey said that Godhan Nyay Yojana is an ambitious scheme. Now there is no need to tell people about its benefits. He said that farmers are beginning to understand the benefits of vermicompost and supercompost being produced by purchasing cow dung. The committee of Lok Sabha constituted in relation to Swachh Bharat Mission has also appreciated the Godhan Nyay scheme of the Government of Chhattisgarh. The confidence of women engaged in making vermi compost and super compost manure from the dung purchased under this scheme has increased. He said that so far 5 lakh quintals of vermi compost manure has been produced in Gauthans, out of which 2 lakh 75 thousand quintals of manure have been sold. 6 lakh quintals of vermi and super compost manure are in the process of being ready. He said that once the Roka Cheka campaign starts, the arrival of cow dung will increase in the Gauthans. The production of vermi and super compost will be doubled as soon as 100 percent of the sanctioned gothans are activated in the state, which will benefit the entire state, including self-help groups and Gauthan committees, including cow dung vendors.

At the beginning of the program, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. M. Geeta gave detailed information about the progress of Godhan Nyay Yojana. He informed that approval has been given for construction of 10 thousand 57 Gauthans in the state so far. Out of which 5820 Gauthans are actively working. So far, Rs 96.64 crore has been paid to one lakh 70 thousand cattle rearers of the state under the Godhan Nyay Yojana in lieu of purchase of cow dung. this75 thousand landless families are also getting the benefit of the scheme. Rs.11 crore produced in Gauthans has been made available for sale to Compost Committees.
