In Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Kunwarpur of development block Lakhanpur of Surguja district in Chhattisgarh, women of Pragati Self Help Group are running the enterprise of manufacturing sacks for packaging vermi-compost. At present, the work of making bags is being done by this group on daily basis. About 11,000 gunny bags have been manufactured by the group within a month of the beginning of gunny bag manufacturing, out of which, while supplying 6,000 gunny bags, the gunny bags have been sold in 57 Gauthans of Lakhanpur development block for vermicompost packaging. So far, income of up to Rs 94 thousand has been received by women entrepreneurs in a month itself. The supply of gunny bags continues from here.
The intention of setting up Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel is to manufacture products at the local level, to create space for their marketing, to ensure the supply of products so that the local people get work, They should become financially strong and in this sequence the rural economy should be strengthened. a perpetual cycle of the economy in which production, Establishing strong small enterprises while ensuring arrangements for processing and marketing of products. Joining Ripa located in village Kunwarpur, the Pragati Mahila group has taken a step ahead and expressed its intention to start a sack manufacturing venture. There are total 12 members in this group. The President of the group is Mrs. Anita and the Secretary is Indra Bai. In the coming time, the vermicompost made in all the 354 rural Gothans of the district will be packaged in sacks prepared from this ripa. With this, sack manufacturing enterprise will be established in the village itself and new avenues of income will open for women entrepreneurs.
In the year 2023, the rural industrial park was started by the government in rural areas, which aims to connect women and youth with employment through small scale industries in rural areas, as well as to arrange production, processing and marketing of products at the local level. So that rural areas become the focal point of the economy. In this series, two RIPA i.e. Rural Industrial Parks have been established in every development block in the district.
In the year 2020, the government’s ambitious scheme Godhan Nyay Yojana was started in which cow dung was purchased from cattle herders, farmers and cow dung sellers from Gauthan in Gram Panchayat Kunwarpur. The purpose of cow dung purchase was to encourage the use of organic manure to promote organic agriculture. Women groups were trained to make vermicompost to connect them with livelihood and then women started making vermicompost in Gauthan. Fertilizer sales started through cooperative societies to deliver vermi compost to the farmers and the women of the group associated with compost manufacturing got a source of income from the sale of compost. Along with compost making, women also did the work of garden development, due to which their income started increasing. When I got work and income in my hands, I got new confidence.

You also get full support from your family members. He is doing the work of manufacturing sacks in Ripa. While working in RIPA, I have got a means of livelihood with respect. I am very happy that through the important scheme of the government, I am getting to learn the nuances of business like an entrepreneur and I am able to become a part of the economic strength of my village and home.
