Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that reducing road accidents is one of our top priorities. We are working in this direction by making the system hi-tech. He said this while flagging off 15 new interceptor vehicles from his residence today. He said that following traffic rules while driving on the road guarantees safe travel and this also creates a sense of security in other drivers. In view of the increasing road accidents, we need to be more alert and serious to follow traffic rules. By following the rules, we not only respect our rights but also the rights of fellow passengers. On this occasion, he appealed to the people of the state to follow traffic rules. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MP Shri Santosh Pandey, MLA Shri Anuj Sharma and Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja along with senior police officers were present on this occasion. During this, the Chief Minister also took information about the utility and technical features of the vehicles.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that road safety is our collective responsibility. Every year thousands of people lose their lives in road accidents and many people become permanently disabled.
This problem can be solved with the cooperation of all sections of society. By following traffic rules, the driver not only ensures his own and his family’s safety but also the safety of the society.
By following the rules, discipline and order is maintained on the roads, which can avoid chaos. The journey to the destination is completed with a pleasant and safe experience.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that new interceptor vehicles will keep an eye on those who do not follow the rules. Our aim is not to collect challans but to make people aware and alert to follow the rules. It is
worth noting that for effective control of road accidents in Chhattisgarh, the need for fully equipped interceptor vehicles was being felt, so that action could be taken against drivers who commit crimes like over speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, headlights with more glaring light than the prescribed standard, loud sound of sound equipment installed in the vehicle and by applying a black film darker than the prescribed standard on the glass of the vehicle. With the availability of 15 new interceptor vehicles, vehicles violating the rules can be identified and action can be taken. These vehicles also have sound amplifiers and surveillance cameras for 360 degree monitoring, which will enable better monitoring of law and order situation in case of road accidents and action for smooth traffic management.
These vehicles have been arranged from the Road Safety Fund after administrative approval from the State Government on the recommendation of the State Level Road Safety Fund Management Committee.
Currently, new interceptor vehicles are being deployed in the districts of Raipur, Balodabazar, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Durg, Bemetara, Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir, Raigarh, Surguja, Jagdalpur, Kanker. Employees have also been trained for operating interceptor vehicles in these 15 districts.
