Raipur, 22 December 2021. According to the intention of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, this year, Chhattisgarh has achieved a record achievement in the matter of lifting of paddy from committees and custom milling and depositing rice in the central pool, parallel to the arrangement for purchase of paddy on support price. Within just 22 days of paddy procurement, the state of Chhattisgarh has deposited 1 lakh 56 thousand metric tonnes of rice in the central pool in lieu of custom milling, of which 1 lakh 19 thousand metric tonnes in FCI and 36 thousand 800 metric tonnes in non-rice. quantity is included. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has appreciated the efforts of all the officers and employees related to the system of custom milling, from the procurement of paddy to the rapid deposition of rice in the central pool. The Chief Minister has expressed hope that this process of custom milling and depositing rice along with the systematic procurement of paddy will continue in the state.
In the last 22 days, 40 lakh 31 thousand 143 metric tonnes of paddy have been purchased on support price in the state from December 1 on support price. This is 38.39 percent of the estimated paddy procurement target in the state. Paddy is being procured from farmers through 2484 paddy procurement centers. So far, Rs 6751 crore 37 lakh has been released for payment to farmers in lieu of paddy purchase. So far 10 lakh 84 thousand 550 farmers have sold paddy on support price in the state.
Food Secretary Mr. Topeshwar Verma informed that on the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, this year along with the procurement of paddy, the lifting of paddy for custom milling is also being done expeditiously. After custom milling to Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Chhattisgarh Food Civil Supplies Corporation, 1 lakh 55 thousand metric tonnes of rice has been deposited so far. This is a remarkable achievement so far for the state of Chhattisgarh. Mr. Verma informed that millers are regularly lifting paddy fast for custom milling. So far, DO of 13 lakh 85 thousand 438 metric tonnes of paddy has been issued. 9 lakh 96 thousand 792 metric paddy has been lifted by the millers from the procurement centers.
Rajnandgaon district is leading in the state in terms of paddy procurement. In Rajnandgaon district, more than 3,78,638 metric tonnes of paddy has been procured. Janjgir-Champa district is second in paddy procurement in the state, 3,22,125 metric tonnes of paddy has been procured in the district. Today, Bemetara district is third in the state in the procurement of paddy. In Bemetara district, 3 lakh 029 metric tonnes of paddy has been procured.
