Raipur, 27 July 2022
Chhattisgarh government is going to start the purchase of cow urine in the state from July 28, Hareli festival. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel will duly inaugurate it by purchasing cow urine from Gauthan in village Karsa of Patan block of Durg district. In Raipur district, the purchase of cow urine will start from Navagaon (L) of Abhanpur block and Gauthan of village Badgaon in Arang block.
Godhan Nyay Yojana was started in Chhattisgarh 2 years ago from today on the day of Hareli festival on 20th July 2020. Under this, cow dung is being purchased at the rate of Rs 2 per kg from the cattle rearing villagers. The success of the innovative scheme of procurement of cow dung in the country and the world has become its basis. In view of the encouraging results of large-scale manufacture and use of organic manure through dung procurement, now by purchasing cow urine, pest control products, Jeevamrut, growth promoters will be made, So that instead of costly chemical pesticides, organic pesticides can be made available to the farmers of the state at cheap rates. The motive behind this is also that along with reducing the toxicity of food production, the cost of farming can also be reduced. Due to the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides in agriculture, the nutritional value of food items is getting destroyed. The fertility of the land is decreasing. The amount of poisoning in food items is increasing, due to which the health of public life is being adversely affected. Now by purchasing cow urine in Gauthans, insecticide products, Jeevamrut etc. will be prepared from it through trained women’s group, Which will be made available to the farmers at a subsidized rate. The cost of these organic pesticides will be much less than the cost of expensive chemical insecticide pesticides available in the market. Agricultural scientists say that cow urine insecticide is a much better and cheaper alternative to chemical pesticides. Its disease resistance is many times higher than chemical insecticides. Its spraying in the fields helps in the control of all types of pests. The use of cow urine insecticide is more effective against leaf eaters, fruit piercing and stem borer insects. Its use is also better for agriculture – environment and health. The use of cow urine insecticide is more effective against fruit piercing and stem borer insects. Under the Garva program of Suraji Gaon Yojna, 8408 villages of the state have become Gauthans, where there is free provision of fodder and water for the care of animals. In these Gauthans, cow dung is being procured for the last two years under the Godhan Nyay Yojana. Due to which women groups are preparing organic fertilizers and other products. Over 76 lakh quintals of cow dung has been purchased in the state in the last two years. In lieu of this, an amount of more than Rs 153 crore has been paid to the cattle dung sellers. Women’s groups have so far prepared more than 22 quintals of organic manure including Vermicompost, Super Compost, Super Compost Plus from the purchased cow dung and made it available to the farmers of the state. Along with manufacturing of organic manure from cow dung, women are also conducting other oriented activities, which have earned them an additional income of Rs 74 crore in the last two years.
