world hemophilia day

On World Hemophilia Day today, a state level health medical seminar was organized by the Department of Pediatrics and Hematology of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Raipur. Hematologist Dr. Vikas Goyal of Sanjivani Cancer Hospital was invited as the keynote speaker in the seminar. Superintendent of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital and Head of Radiodiagnosis Department, Dr. S.B.S. Netam inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest.

Dr. Onkar Khandwal, Coordinator of State Level Health Medical Seminar and Head of Department of Pediatrics at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, in the seminar, diagnosed the genetic disease of Hemophilia in children at the first level and its seriousness and complication by proper protocol. Gave information regarding reduction. He told that in this rare genetic disease, which occurs mainly in boys, bleeding continues for a long time even in small scratches due to the inability of the blood to clot quickly. Later on, even after the blood transfusion of clotting factor, repeated problems of internal bleeding, swelling and pain in the joints and muscles keep on occurring again and again in the interval of weeks and months, which later on also takes the form of disability.

Dr. Vikas Goyal, Hematologist, Sanjeevani Cancer Hospital, told that we do not have to limit ourselves to transfusion of clotting factors, but at the same time, through various innovative options of sequential prophylaxis treatment under early detection and preventive care in the early stages of the disease. The seriousness and complications of this disease have to be prevented. In genetic diseases like hemophilia, transfusion of preventive prophylactic factor 8/9 is the standard of care by which we can save the patient from disability. Specialists of Pediatrics Department of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Dr. Virendra Kurre, Dr. Prankur Pandey, Dr. Shilpa Bhargava and Dr. Dhiraj Solanki had a special contribution in the successful organization of the seminar.
