Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the permanent campus of IIT Bhilai through virtual medium on Tuesday at 10 am. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will also be present on this occasion. Besides, on this occasion the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the newly constructed buildings of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kawardha and Kurud. On this occasion, Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Shri K. Venkatraman and Director IIT Prof. Rajeev Prakash will also be present.
It is noteworthy that the foundation stone of the construction of IIT was laid by Prime Minister Shri Modi on 14 June 2018. Its construction work was started on 8 July 2020. The campus of IIT is spread over 400 acres. Initially, an amount of Rs 1090 crore 18 lakh was sanctioned by the Union Education Ministry for its construction. Lecture halls, seminar rooms, class rooms etc. have been made in the building. Many buildings under construction in Bhilai IIT have been named after the major rivers and mountains of Chhattisgarh.
