Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today dedicated to the nation the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai. Along with IIT Bhilai, he also inaugurated the newly constructed buildings of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kurud and Kawardha in a virtual program organized in Jammu. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai joined the online inauguration program from Bhilai IIT. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for dedicating to the nation the permanent campus of the National Institute of High Technology IIT, Bhilai. The campus of the institute is being developed on about 400 acres. MP Mr. Vijay Baghel, MLA Mr. Doman Lal Korsewada and Mr. Lalit Chandrakar, former minister Mr. Premprakash Pandey, Mrs. Ramsheela Sahu, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Bhilai IIT Mr. K. Venkataramanan and Director Prof. Rajeev Prakash also joined the inauguration program virtually.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, while addressing the inauguration program organized at Bhilai IIT, said that today is a day of pride for Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated, laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 220 development projects worth Rs 32 thousand crore for the country from Jammu. These also include three educational institutions of Chhattisgarh. I thank the Prime Minister for this and express my gratitude to him. He congratulated and congratulated the IIT Bhilai family on getting a well-equipped permanent campus. He expressed hope that this IIT will become a center of excellence for higher education.

Today the Prime Minister has inaugurated, laid the foundation stone and inaugurated many higher educational institutions across the country. The youth of the country have received a great gift today. Shri K., Chairman of the Board of Governors of Bhilai IIT. Venkataramanan and Director Prof. Rajiv Prakash also addressed the program. Former MLA Shri Labhchand Bafna and Registrar of Bhilai IIT, retired Wing Commander Dr. Jayesh Chandra S. Many public representatives including Pai, IIT professors and students were present in large numbers in the programme.

More than one thousand students are studying, classes were started in Government Engineering College Raipur in 2016, many buildings of the campus are named after the rivers and mountains of Chhattisgarh.

At present, more than one thousand students are studying in 11 branches of engineering in Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai. In the year 2016, classes started in Government Engineering College, Raipur, the temporary campus of IIT. Classes are being held in the permanent campus in Bhilai from August-2023. Its construction started from 8 July 2020 after Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of the IIT campus in Bhilai on 14 June 2018. The campus of IIT Bhilai is spread over 400 acres. Initially, Rs 1090 crore 18 lakh has been sanctioned by the Union Education Ministry for its construction and lecture halls, seminar rooms, classrooms etc. have been built in the campus. Many buildings constructed here are named after the major rivers and mountains of Chhattisgarh, Indravati, Shivnath, Kanhar, Mainpat, Gourlata, Sihawa, Pelma etc.
