Raipur: Prime Minister praised Chhattisgarh’s millet mission, said to open millet-cafe in Raipur

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel met Prime Minister Mr. Modi, told about the abundant millet production in the state

 

Mr. Baghel requested for early payment of Chhattisgarh’s pending funds with the Center

1375 crores of GST and 4170 crores of coal levy are pending with the center

Also requested to direct SECL to enter into contract with state nodal agency at the earliest for uninterrupted supply of coal.

Informed about the inconveniences being faced by the people of Chhattisgarh due to disruption in regular operation of passenger trains

The Chief Minister said that trains running in the state should not be canceled without adequate and proper alternative arrangements.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel met Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi during his stay in Delhi today and apprised him about the progress being made in Chhattisgarh’s agriculture sector and other sectors. Informing them about the Millets Mission being run in the state, the Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh produces millets in abundance. Praising the Millet Mission, Prime Minister Shri Modi said that Millet Cafe should be started in the capital Raipur. During this, Mr. Baghel also informed him about the revenue amounts of Chhattisgarh pending with the Center and requested for early delivery. Mr. Baghel also requested assistance from the Center to improve various civic amenities in the state. 

 

During the meeting, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel told the Prime Minister that millet is produced in large quantities in Chhattisgarh. In the state, the support price of Kodo Kutki has been declared Rs 3000 per quintal. He informed the Prime Minister that the country’s first millet bank has been started in Chhattisgarh. Where 22 types of millets are produced. Appreciating the Millet Mission, the Prime Minister advised to start Millet Cafe in Raipur. 

 

During the meeting Mr. Baghel told Prime Minister Mr. Modi that GST. Like other producing states, Chhattisgarh is also facing shortfall in commercial tax revenue after its implementation. GST GST payable to the state of Chhattisgarh from the date of implementation till June 30, 2022. Out of the compensation amount, Rs 1375 crore is yet to be received by the state. This amount should be given to the state soon. 

 

Mr. Baghel said that the recovery of additional levy from the coal blocks canceled by the Supreme Court in 2014 has been achieved by the Central Government. The Central Government has been requested several times to transfer the amount of Rs. 4170 crores recovered from the coal blocks of Chhattisgarh state to the state, but the amount is yet to be received. He requested the Prime Minister that the amount should be transferred to the State at the earliest. 

 

Mr. Baghel said that for the fuel requirement of sponge iron and steel industries operating in the state of Chhattisgarh, there is a continuous problem in the supply of coal from South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) in the last 06 months. Due to this reason, there is continuous difficulty in the operation of the industries of the state. He requested the Prime Minister to instruct SECL to make an early contract with the state nodal agency and coal allocation for supply of coal to the industries of the state. 

 

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the Howrah-Mumbai train route is like a lifeline for the state of Chhattisgarh, but this year a large number of passenger trains have been stopped by the Railways from time to time. No alternative arrangements are made before stopping the operation of such trains. Middle and lower class people have to face a lot of inconvenience due to the closure of trains and they have to face inconvenience for employment business. Rail mode is the only easy and convenient way for the common citizens to travel during the winter season. He requested the Prime Minister that keeping all these things in mind, please order the concerned not to cancel trains in the state in future without adequate and proper alternative arrangements.
