Meeting of Chhattisgarh State Wetland Authority chaired by Forest and Climate Change Minister

Raipur, 16 January 2021. The first meeting of Chhattisgarh State Wetland Authority was held at his residence office at Shankar Nagar in the capital today under the chairmanship of Minister of Forest and Climate Change, Transport and Housing and Environment. Discussing in the meeting, he gave instructions for early identification of wetlands (wetlands) in the state and a better action plan for their development.

Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Akbar also reviewed the powers and its obligations to the Technical Committee and the Grevens Committee and the Chhattisgarh State Wetland Authority under the Wetland (Conservation and Management) Rules. He informed that the committees of the Authority have been constituted for the development of the available wetlands in the revenue area except forest land in the state. Under this, he gave necessary instructions to the officials to ensure the formation at the state level as well as the district level. He said that the development of wetland will promote the conservation and promotion of biodiversity. Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Akbar also gave instructions regarding making necessary provisions in the budget for the fund for the systematic operation of the Chhattisgarh State Wetland Authority. He took over the authority’s functions and responsibilities from any Department of Environment or Forest and Climate Change. Regarding handing over to a department was also discussed in detail and said that a proposal would be put up for its approval in the meeting of the Council of Ministers. In these, the concerned departments were instructed to ensure rapid implementation of the action plan for the development of wetlands in the state with mutual coordination.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Subrata Sahu, Member Secretary of Chhattisgarh Environmental Protection Board, Mr. R.P. Tiwari, Secretary Revenue and Disaster Management Ms. Rita Shandilya, Secretary Tourism Mr. Anbalagan P., Secretary Forest Mr. Prem Kumar and Director General of Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology Mr. Mudit Kumar Singh and Dr. ML from various departments. Nayak, Shri Arun Pandey, Shri N.S. Senior officials like Nag, Mr. Mohit Sahu etc. were present.
