All-round efforts are being made in Chhattisgarh to make women economically capable. Women are being linked to economic activities in the Gauthans of the state. In this series, NRLM is also working to provide self-employment to women in village Kumkela of Jashpur district. Bihan has been involved in the work of preparing sanitary pads. The group is getting good income from this. The women of the group are also going to nearby villages and advising women about physical hygiene and use of sanitary pads.
Manufacturing of sanitary pads has been started by taking training of women of Maa Durga Mahila Self-Help Group in village Kumkela of Pathalgaon development block of Jashpur district. 26 groups have been formed in this Panchayat. All the women of Maa Durga Self-Help Group hold weekly meetings and deposit their savings and have also received a revolving fund amount of Rs 15,000 under Bihan Yojana. Women take bank loans and work on manufacturing and distributing sanitary pads, making village women aware and motivating them to use sanitary pads. The women of the group have earned Rs 20 thousand from sanitary pads.
