Chief Minister inaugurates basic training program for newly elected panchayat representatives

Raipur, 07 December 2020. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the basic training program of newly elected Panchayat representatives at Thakur Pyarelal State Panchayat and Rural Development Institute Nimora through video conferencing from his residence office in the capital this afternoon. During this time, he also released 05 types of training module reading literature for basic training of about one lakh 75 thousand representatives of Panchayati State institutions in the state. The Chief Minister held discussions with representatives of district, district and gram panchayats through video conferencing in the program. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri TS Singhdeo chaired the program.

Addressing the program, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the Panchayat representatives have an important responsibility for the progress and welfare of the villagers. For this, training programs have been organized for basic and orientation of newly elected Panchayat Raj representatives in the state. This training program will prove very useful for capacity development of representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions. Taking full advantage of the training program, he gave special emphasis to all the delegates to discharge their responsibilities in a better manner to make the villages self-sufficient. He said that training of newly elected Panchayat representatives is mandatory and important for realizing the objective of ‘Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh’ in the state. This will enable them to discharge their duties and perform more smoothly with greater efficiency.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the Panchayati Raj representatives along with the government have played an important role in the village to deal with the crisis of global epidemic like Corona in the state. In the quarantine centers set up in the villages, they also participated in the food and water of the people affected by the corona and coming from outside, and better arrangements for their stay. In the same way, the government is also discharging its responsibility in the operation of every schemes and programs related to rural development. Chief Minister Shri Baghel has given a program through video conferencing in Korba, Bijapur, Balod, Geidam-Dakshin Bastar (Dantewada), Surguja, Patan-Durg, Discussed with the Panchayat representatives of Jashpur and Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi districts and also inquired about the development activities conducted there. Expressing happiness over the fact that more than half of the newly elected panchayat representatives in Chhattisgarh were women, this said that women in the state were also getting ample opportunities to move forward.
Presiding over the program, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mr. Singhdev said that the Panchayat representatives have a significant responsibility for the overall development of the village. They should make maximum use of their rights and obligations in the interest of the villagers. It is noteworthy that a total of one lakh 75 thousand 488 representatives have been elected in the Panchayati Raj Institutions of the state. Of these, 400 district panchayat representatives of 27 districts include 221 women and 179 male representatives. Similarly, 2 thousand 979 Janpad Panchayat representatives of 146 Janpad Panchayats include 1597 women and 1382 male representatives and one lakh 72 thousand 109 Gram Panchayat representatives of 11 thousand 664 Gram Panchayats, 88 thousand 766 women and 83 thousand 343 male representatives. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Subrata Sahu, Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Mr. Prasanna R. Other officials were present.
