Rapid offtake of paddy for custom milling: 35.77 lakh metric tonnes lifted so far

Under the paddy procurement campaign under the guidance of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, more than 58 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured so far on the support price from the farmers of the state. It may be noted that the state government has set a target of procuring 110 lakh metric tonnes of paddy this year. Against the paddy procurement target since November 1, more than 50 percent paddy has been procured. In lieu of paddy purchase, Rs 11,640 crore has been paid to 14.66 lakh farmers of the state under the bank linking system. 
Like last year, this year also paddy procurement is going on continuously for custom milling along with paddy procurement. Till now DO has been issued for lifting of more than 45 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, in lieu of which 35 lakh 77 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted by the millers.
Food Department Secretary Mr. Topeshwar Verma said that this year 25.92 lakh farmers have been registered in the state, including about 2.26 lakh new farmers. 2600 procurement centers have been set up for paddy purchase in the state. Normal paddy is being bought at the rate of Rs 2040 per quintal and grade-A paddy at Rs 2060 per quintal. A strict vigil is being kept on the system of paddy procurement in the state. Goods carriers are being checked at check posts to prevent illegal transportation of paddy from border states.
     Officials told that today, on December 19, more than 2 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from more than 57 thousand farmers, apart from this, more than 55 thousand tonnes of paddy has also been purchased from the farmers through tokens obtained online. 77,124 tokens and 18,269 tokens have been issued online through the Token Tuhar Haath app for paddy procurement for the next day.
