Sensitive Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has directed the health department and the officials of the concerned department to run awareness campaigns for the prevention and protection against seasonal diseases. He has said that on getting information about seasonal diseases including malaria, diarrhoea, waterborne diseases in any area of ​​the state, the health staff should immediately set up health camps and ensure treatment of the affected people. Shri Sai has instructed the officials of the health department to ensure adequate stock of all necessary life saving medicines for the prevention of seasonal diseases including malaria, diarrhoea and on getting information, send the necessary medicines to the affected areas immediately and ensure treatment, so that possible loss of life can be averted.

As per the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Sai, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma visited remote forest villages Chilfi, Jhalmala and Taregaon Jungle, Sonwahi of Bodla development block of Kabirdham district yesterday and took health related information. He reached village Sonwahi and met the villagers as well as the family members of the diarrhea affected family and assured them of all possible help from the state government. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma expressed his deep condolences on the sudden death of two villagers in village Sonwahi yesterday. He inspected the temporary health camp set up in the tribal boys hostel of village Sonwahi and talked to the patients. He instructed the doctors to provide better medical facilities. The Deputy Chief Minister instructed the district administration that there is a need to make an effective action plan to prevent seasonal diseases, diarrhea, vomiting diarrhea and waterborne diseases in the plain areas including the forest areas. He instructed the collector to set up health camps in the forest areas and run awareness campaigns for the prevention of seasonal diseases including malaria and diarrhea.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sharma directed to purchase sonography machines from DMF at the earliest for the government hospitals in remote forest areas of Chilfi, Jhalmala and Taregaon forest. He directed to organize health camps and clone water sources in all the villages of the forest area.

Collector Shri Janmejay Mahobe said that Bodla SDM and CMHO were instructed to conduct a door-to-door survey. Five villagers have died in Sonwahi due to different reasons and at different places.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. BL Raj said that information about diarrhea was received in Sonwahi. On receiving the information, the doctor and health staff of the nearby Community Health Center Jhalmala reached on July 10 and started the work of health checkup of the villagers by setting up a temporary health camp in the Adivasi Bal Ashram hostel of the village. On the second day, July 11, on the instructions of the Collector, additional health teams from the district level and Chilfi were sent and deployed in village Sonwahi.

CMHO Dr. Raj said that Sonsingh had returned home after working in his field, he informed his family members about his ill health. After this, he started vomiting and within three to four hours he died at home. According to the villagers, similarly, woman Phoolbai also died due to vomiting. The sudden death of two villagers was discussed with the villagers. Prima facie investigation and inquiry has revealed that they had eaten poisonous mushrooms. The postmortem report has not come yet, the reason will become clear after the report comes.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma inspected the temporary health camp and talked to the patients who came for treatment. Collector Mr. Janmejay Mahobe told that there are 194 houses in village Sonwahi, whose total population is 580. There are 12 wells and 02 hand pumps in this village. A Mitanin is also working. He told that health check-up of people is being done regularly in the village on finding symptoms of disease. On July 11, health check-up of 194 people was done, in which 08 people were admitted to the sub-health center due to ill health, out of which 07 people had symptoms of seasonal fever and 01 was vomiting. Similarly, health check-up of 144 people was done on July 12, in which 12 were found to have symptoms of seasonal, cold fever, who have been admitted to the Community Health Center Jhalmala. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sharma gave instructions to provide better health treatment to all the patients.
