Raipur : Organic farming and vermi compost should be promoted at national-level: Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur, 09 November 2021 . Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has said that there is a need to promote the production of organic manure and vermi compost at national-level to encourage organic farming. This would help in solving the problem of chemical fertilizer shortage in Chhattisgarh as well as in other states of the country. This would not only improve soil health but would also provide better quality of agricultural produce. Mr. Baghel said that the COVID crisis had affected the supply of raw material for production chemical fertilizers, which led to the shortage of overall supply of chemical fertilizers, said Chief Minister while addressing the meeting of State-Level Disha Committee (Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee). This meeting was held at New Circuit House here today to review, monitor, evaluate the progress of various schemes of Central Government and to establish a better coordination between the Center and the State .

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mr. TS Singhdeo, Lok Sabha MP Mr. Guharam Ajgale, Mrs. Jyotsna Mahant, Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Ramvichar Netam, MLAs Dr. Pritam Ram, Mr. Kunwar Singh Netam, Mr. Lakheshwar Baghel, Mr. Shailesh Pandey, Mrs. Ranjana Dipendra Sahu, Chairman of Entire Business Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation Mr. Dhanesh Patila, Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretaries Mrs. Renu Ji Pillai and Mr. Subrat Sahu, secretaries and senior officers of the concerned departments were present. At the onset, two-minute silence was observed in the honor of late MLA of Khairagarh, Shri Devvrat Singh.

Chief Minister further said in his address that Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country to have declared support price for the production of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi. Mr. Baghel said that millet production is being promoted in Chhattisgarh under the Millet Mission. Seven districts of Bastar Division, 5 districts of Sarguja along with Kawardha and Rajnandgaon have been included under the mission. Forest region have low irrigation capacity and millets take lesser time to produce. Hence, the production of millet in such areas can provide a good source of income to the dwellers. Arrangements are also being made to procure and market the millets. Lok Sabha MP Mr. Ramvichar Netam, who was present in the meeting, appreciated the Millet Mission initiative and the program to promote the production of organic manure and vermicompost in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister said that this meeting has led to constructive discussions regarding various schemes. The members have given many important suggestions, which will be considered during the implementation of the schemes.

MNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Digital India, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, National Health Mission, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Integrated Watershed Management Program, National Rural Drinking Water Program, Clean India Mission and other schemes were reviewed.

During the review of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Chief Minister said that MNREGA should be linked with agricultural works. At present, the works of land leveling and pond construction are being done prominently under this scheme. Inclusion of the agricultural works under MNREGA will greatly benefit the farmers and significantly reduce the production cost. A proposal in the context has been sent to the Central Government. Central Government has also been requested to open new branches of the bank in the scheduled areas and Naxal affected areas. Due to COVID crisis in year 2020-21, employment oriented works were conducted under MNREGA on priority basis. In year 2020-21, 30 lakh 61 thousand families were provided employment of 1841 lakh man-days. Similarly, in year 2021-22 till September, employment of 735 lakh man-days was created and 22 lakh 43 thousand families were provided the employment.

During the review of National Health Mission, it was informed that free chemotherapy facilities have been made available for cancer patients in 9 district hospitals of Chhattisgarh. 450 patients have availed this facility during the COVID crisis. Most of these patients are from Bastar and Jashpur districts. Similarly, 25 dialysis machines have been installed in 8 district hospitals of the state, through which free dialysis facility has been provided to 1370 patients in 4576 sessions. Hamar Lab has been established in Raipur, in which 96 tests are being done. In the near future, free facility of 120 tests will be available in this lab.

During the review of Swachh Bharat Mission, it was informed that 296 biogas plants were set up in rural areas across the country, out of which 92 percent i.e. 273 biogas plants were installed in Chhattisgarh. It was informed in the meeting that shops are being constructed in the toilet premises to facilitate the management of community toilets. It was informed in the meeting that in year 2020-21 under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana, construction of 4228 km of roads and 75 major bridges was completed. National Quality Monitors inspected 269 roads out of which 99 per cent roads were found to be of satisfactory quality. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural, 8 lakh 21 thousand houses have been constructed in the state. It was informed during the review that under Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana, 5957 people have been trained and employed in various professions.

AMRIT Mission, Smart City Mission, Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, National Social Program, Integrated Power Development Scheme, Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh ​​Gram Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Digital India, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Prime Minister’s Mineral Welfare Sector Scheme, implementation of National Food Security Act, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, Jal Jeevan Mission and the infrastructure development related schemes of Public Works Department, Railways and Telecom Department were also reviewed.
