Raipur, 29 August 2021. The delegation of Chhattisgarh Transport Federation and Bus Owners Federation of Chhattisgarh met Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at his residence office here this evening and demanded a 40 percent increase in passenger fares in view of the huge increase in diesel prices at present. Chief Minister Shri Baghel after discussion gave his consent to increase it by 25 percent. Transport Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar, Commissioner Transport Shri Topeshwar Verma, Additional Transport Commissioner Shri Dipanshu Kabra, Joint Transport Commissioner Shri Devvrat Sirmaur were present on this occasion.
It is worth noting that the rate of passenger fare for ‘Prakram Passenger Vehicles’ (except city vehicles) was increased by the Chhattisgarh Government Transport Department from 16 July 2018. At that time, the price of diesel in the year 2018 was Rs 69.20 per liter. After that, the price of diesel has gone up to Rs 89.10 per liter as on 1 May 2021. Keeping this in mind, Chief Minister Shri Baghel agreed to increase the passenger fare by 25 percent in the state after considering his demand.
During the meeting with Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, the delegation of Bus Owners Federation of Chhattisgarh including Patron Chhattisgarh Transport Federation and Chairman Municipal Corporation Raipur Mr. Pramod Dubey, while demanding increase in passenger fare, apprised that at present there is a huge increase in diesel prices and others. Bus operators in the state are facing a lot of difficulty due to the increase in the cost of equipment. Therefore, it will be justified to increase the passenger fare so that all the buses can be operated systematically for the convenience of the general public in the state. The delegation thanked Chief Minister Mr. Baghel for agreeing to increase the passenger fare in the state.
The delegation included Mr. Syed Anwar Ali of Chhattisgarh Transport Federation and Bus Honors Federation of Chhattisgarh, Navy Garcha, Narendra Pal Singh, Abdul Qadeer, Ramesh Sharma, Shivratna Gupta, Champalal Sahu, Sheshnarayan Kasar, Mohammad Akram Khan, Gurcharan Singh Hora, Rais Ahmed Shakeel, Ashish Pandey, Ashok Jain, Anil Pusadkar, Bhavesh Agarwal, Ahmed Solanki, Vineet Lunia, Lalit Lodhi, Prakash Rathore, Bobby Garcha, Jaswinder Singh, Amit Sharma, Mangtu Yadav, Sanuddin Solanki, Hafeez Warsi etc. were present.
