NTPC Lara should give jobs to the displaced people on priority basis: Shri Bhupesh Baghel
With the constant efforts and special initiative of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, 49 land displaced people of 9 villages affected by land acquisition for NTPC Lara Thermal Power Project were given permanent appointment letters by NTPC Lara according to their eligibility in a program organized in Raigad today. Chief Minister Shri Baghel also joined this program through video conferencing from his residence office. He congratulated and wished all the people who got the job. It is noteworthy that even before this 6 affected land oustees were given jobs. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the examination was again conducted by taking out advertisements for recruitment to the remaining posts, through which appointment letters were given to 49 people today. In this way, a total of 55 land oustees have been given jobs as per their eligibility.
NTPC Lara had advertised the recruitment of 79 posts of IIT Diploma, Lab Assistant and Assistant General in various skilled trades for the land-displaced. Out of these, 22 reserved posts are yet to be appointed. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has given instructions to the officers of NTPC management and Collector Raigad present in the program today to take appropriate initiative to provide appointment to the eligible land-displaced people according to their qualification on the remaining 22 posts of recruitment. The Chief Minister said in the program that the land displaced who were affected by the land acquired for NTPC Lara should be given jobs in future recruitments in NTPC Lara on priority basis as per eligibility. People of Chhattisgarh should also be given priority in recruitment.
Alok Gupta, ED, NTPC Lara, who was present in the program, assured to give priority to the affected land-displaced and the people of Chhattisgarh in future recruitments as per the instructions of the Chief Minister. Today, 19 posts of IIT Electrician Trade, 9 for IIT Fitter Trade, 5 for Lab Assistant Chemistry, 4 for Diploma Electrical Trade, one for Diploma Mechanical Trade and 11 for Assistant General Posts were provided.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel directed the land-displaced of NTPC Lara to give jobs on non-executive posts as per the eligibility, in a meeting held at his residence office on March 5, 2019, senior officers of NTPC, Revenue Minister, Chief Secretary, Revenue Secretary and Collector Raigad. In the meeting, in accordance with which an advertisement was issued for the recruitment of 79 posts of IIT Diploma, Lab Assistant and Assistant General in various skilled trades for the land-displaced. For this, 6 candidates were appointed on the basis of written examination and skill test conducted in the first phase. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, NTPC Lara re-advertised for recruitment to 73 posts in November 2020, for which 49 candidates were selected after the examination, who were given appointment letters today.
During the program, MLA Shri Prakash Nayak urged the Chief Minister that the land displaced of NTPC Lara and the people of Chhattisgarh should be given jobs on priority basis. Collector Raigarh Shri Bhim Singh informed in the program that NTPC Lara is a super critical technology based power plant, which has 2 units of 800 MW capacity. Chhattisgarh gets 50 percent of the power generation from this plant. He said that for this plant 9 villages Armuda, Bodajharia, Chapora, Devalsurra, Jhilgitar, Kandagarh, Lara, 2000 acres of private land of Mahloi and Riapali was acquired. 2449 farmers have been affected by this. An amount of Rs 187 crore has been deposited as compensation for the land acquired by NTPC. He informed that at present 500 people from the affected villages and 550 people from other districts of Chhattisgarh are working. Apart from this, work is being provided to the affected people including vehicle owners, shops in township and PAP vendors. He informed that 1789 farmers affected by this project have given one-time rehabilitation amount of Rs.5 lakh per acre to a maximum of Rs.25 lakh and 31 affected farmers have taken land acquired for 30 years at the rate of Rs.50 thousand per acre for a maximum of 5 acres. Option to be given annual stipend was given. Under both the options, an amount of Rs 118 crore has been provided to the affected farmers so far. The eligibility of 688 land holders is to be tested by the district administration. The Collector also informed about the works done by NTPC under CSR head. He said that an amount of Rs 2.64 crore has been given by NTPC for the new building of Community Health Center, Pusaur.
