For the first time, the Juvenile Justice Board of the districts, the chairman of the child welfare committees, the District Legal Services Authority and the District Child Protection Unit were brought on a single platform by the Chhattisgarh Child Rights Protection Commission, taking a new initiative for the protection of children’s interest by UNICEF and the Legal Services Authority. Gone. This will bring speed and clarity in the work done by the institutions. The first quarterly review meeting cum workshop was organized by the Child Protection Commission at Naya Raipur Road hotel today. On this occasion Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court and Executive Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority Mr. Gautam Bhaduri, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Child Protection Commission Mrs. Tejkunwar Netam, UNICEF State Chief Mr. Job Zakaria, IG Police Dr. Sanjeev Shukla and Women and Child Special Secretary, Development Department, Shri Poshan Chandrakar was also present.

In the meeting, the implementation of Juvenile Justice Act (Care and Protection of Children) 2015 and POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act) 2012 and their provisions were discussed. During the discussion, necessary suggestions were given for disposal of pending cases. In the meeting, the judges and officials made several suggestions like direct flow of budget, video conferencing facility in the Juvenile Justice Board, timely submission of challans by the police, non-disclosure of the identity of the victim, etc. to protect the interests of children.

Smt. Tejkunwar Netam said that children should be given their full rights. Safety, education and nutrition are the rights of every child. The state government has made arrangements for the safety and nutrition of children, but for this the society will also have to come forward. Safety of girls should be our priority. He requested the Judge Shri Bhaduri to control the increasing mobile and drug addiction among the children.

Justice Shri Bhaduri appreciated the Child Protection Commission for bringing together all the concerned institutions and units working for the cause of children and congratulated them for the event. He said that laws have been made by the government but its benefits should also reach the people. Earlier, motivational books of moral stories were in the hands of children. Now mobile has taken its place. The ill effects of mobile have to be stopped. This is the end of childhood. He asked the judges and the officials concerned to move ahead and devise new avenues to solve the problems of the people.

Mr Job Zakaria said that it is the collective responsibility of all of us to secure the rights of children. For this a change in behavior and thinking is necessary. There should be a big investment to protect the rights of children.

In the second session of the meeting, district-wise review of pending cases in the Juvenile Justice Board of the districts was done. During this, the officers of the Judicial Officers, District Legal Services Authority, Special Juvenile Police Unit and Child Welfare Committees were informed about the cases related to children while presenting the reports of their districts.
