Naya Raipur in Chhattisgarh, which was till now known as a Smart City, has today entered a new chapter – as a “Smartly Connected City”.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi made a historic beginning of directly connecting Naya Raipur with the Indian Railways network by inaugurating the Abhanpur-Raipur MEMU train service through video conferencing at the public meeting and inauguration foundation stone laying ceremony held at Mohbhatta village in Bilaspur on March 30.

With the launch of this new MEMU service, now travelling from Raipur Railway Station to Naya Raipur via Mandirhasaud, CBD, Kendri has become direct, comfortable and possible for just Rs 10. Thousands of employees, students and common people working in the state secretariat, ministry, residential area and educational institutions will benefit from this.

With the start of the rail service, now direct and economical train facility will be available for passengers from Raipur Railway Station to Naya Raipur via Mandir Hasaud, CBD, Kendri. Its direct benefit will be received by the Ministry, Secretariat, residential areas, students and employees of Naya Raipur. This service is a milestone in the direction of connecting Naya Raipur to Raipur city and regional rail network. This will not only save the time and money of the passengers, but will also give a new flight to Naya Raipur in terms of transportation, investment and residential development.

State-of-the-art three-phase MEMU train – high speed, energy efficiency and comfortable travel experience

Stoppages: Raipur, Mandir Hasaud, Naya Raipur CBD, Kendriya and Abhanpur

Features: Cushioned seats, large windows, mobile charging socket, GPS-based station display, CCTV surveillance, bio-toilets

It is noteworthy that on this occasion, Prime Minister Shri Modi dedicated 4 completed rail projects of Chhattisgarh (total cost: ₹2,695 crores) to the nation and laid the foundation stone of 7 new projects, which will further strengthen the rail network of the state in the coming time.
