Raipur: Narva treatment improves ground water level and increasing irrigated area: Farmers started taking double crop

Raipur, 28 September 2021. The Suraji Gaon Yojana of the government has started showing better results of Narva development in rural areas. Areas where permanent structures have been built to conserve rain water in the rain rivulets. Irrigation facilities have also increased along with the increase in the ground water level of those areas. Due to the availability of water in the drain, farmers have started using it for irrigation as well as producing cash and double crop. The soil erosion has also stopped due to Narva treatment. Greenery has increased. Due to the treatment of 60 drains in Balrampur-Ramanujganj border district of Chhattisgarh, with an average increase of 5-10 cm in the ground water level of the surrounding villages, the actual facility of irrigation has been created in about 1240 hectare area.

Narva development program has opened new avenues for agriculture and farmers’ prosperity in rural areas. In Balrampur district, 6 thousand 828 works were done for the treatment of 60 drains, which mainly includes construction of dubri, boulder check, gabion structure, contour trench, well, earth dam, check dam, pond, stop dam etc. Under this, the actual irrigation area has increased from 343 dabris to 768 hectares, 09 check dams and 10 stop dams to 325 hectares built in the first phase. Irrigation area has increased by 97.5 hectares from seven big earthen dams, 49.5 hectares from 04 ponds. In this way total irrigation area of ​​1240 hectares has increased due to construction of total 373 structures. ACT, Boulder check, Gabion, Gully plug, Brasswood check, for the purpose of preventing soil erosion due to rain water. Apart from conserving 28 thousand 320 cubic meters of water, the construction has helped in reducing the speed of water flow. 94 DPRs have been prepared for the treatment of drains in the revenue area for the year 2021-22 under Narva Vikas Yojana in the district, while 249 DPRs are being prepared for the treatment of drains in the forest area. The total catchment area of ​​465 drains identified for treatment is 2 lakh 45 thousand 254 hectares. 5652 works have been included in the second phase of drain treatment, out of which administrative approval has been given for a total of 530 works so far.
