Development of pastures is very useful in improving the food and habitat of wild animals: Forest Minister Shri Akbar

Under the Narva Development Program in Chhattisgarh, a large number of ground water augmentation works are being done in the drains located in Vananchal. Under this, the work of pasture development in 4 thousand 751 hectare area of forest areas is in progress with the approved amount of Rs. Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar has described it as very useful for improving the food and habitat of wild animals.
It is worth mentioning that in the year 2022-23 itself, treatment of more than 6 lakh hectares of land is going on by selecting 1 thousand 503 drains under the annual action plan of Chhattisgarh Compensatory Afforestation, Fund Management and Planning Authority “CAMPA”. In these, more than 29 lakh structures related to ground water are being constructed. An amount of more than Rs 300 crore has been sanctioned for their construction in 32 forest divisions, 2 national parks, 3 tiger reserves and 1 elephant reserve of the state.
In this regard, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri V. Srinivasa Rao said that under CAMPA, in the year 2022-23, 239 places located in the state’s forests have been selected for pasture development. Of these, maximum 85 sites have been selected under wildlife conservation. Here pasture development is being done in 1 thousand 955 hectare land with the sanctioned amount of Rs 4 crore 93 lakh.
Similarly, 62 sites have been selected for pasture development under Surguja forest circle. Here work is being done on 1 thousand 120 hectare land with an amount of Rs 2 crore 80 lakh. Apart from this, 600 hectares of land in 36 places under Bilaspur forest circle with an amount of Rs 1 crore 42 lakh, 475 hectares in 22 places under Kanker forest circle with an amount of Rs 1 crore 14 lakh and 361 hectares in 18 places under Durg forest circle with an amount of Rs 91 lakh. And the work of pasture development is going on in 200 hectares with an amount of Rs 50 lakh in 8 places under Raipur Forest Circle.
