Chief Secretary took a meeting of officers

In order to find a permanent solution to stop the loss caused by the movement of animals on the roads in compliance with the instructions of the High Court, a high-level meeting of officials was held here today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain. The Chief Secretary held extensive discussions with the officials of various departments to stop the movement of animals on the roads and has asked the officials to ensure proper action in this regard soon. The Chief Secretary has instructed the officials of Public Works, National Highways, National Highways Authority and local bodies to identify such accident sites by maintaining information about accidents caused by cattle roaming on their respective roads in the past years.
The Chief Secretary took information about Gaushalas, Gauthans, Kanji House and other animal shelters from the officials of the Livestock Development Department. He has said that cattle herders should be given necessary advice not to allow their cattle to come on the roads. Similarly, the officers of the Law Department have also been instructed to prepare updated information about the necessary legal provisions in this regard. In the meeting, Mr. Sanjay Sharma, the officer of the lead agency of the Transport Department, informed about the various efforts made for cattle-free roads in sequence of the decisions taken in the state-level review meeting of the road safety scenario chaired by the Chief Secretary.
Secretary, Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Mr. Prasanna R., Special Secretary, Urban Administration Department, Dr. Ayaz Tamboli, Director, Urban Administration and Development, Mr. Saransh Mitter, Director, Livestock Development, Mrs. Chandan Tripathi, along with officers of Law, Transport, Public Works, National Highway, National Highway Authority, Urban Administration, Panchayat and Rural Development Department attended the meeting.
