Raipur: MoU for transfer of technology for manufacturing of natural paint from cow dung will happen on November 21 in the presence of Chief Minister.

Raipur, 20 November 2021. Kumarappa National Paper Institute Jaipur, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Industries Government of India New MoU will be signed between Delhi, and Chhattisgarh State Gau Seva Commission, Raipur. Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri Ravinder Choubey along with other ministers and officers of related departments will be present on this occasion. 

 

It is worth mentioning here that under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, the Government of Chhattisgarh plans to manufacture natural paints from cow dung being purchased in Gauthans. Its objective is to ensure the availability of natural paints at low cost to the people in place of chemical paints, as well as to financially empower Gauthans and women groups and to provide employment opportunities to the youth in the villages. It is worth mentioning that for the conservation and promotion of cow dung by the Government of Chhattisgarh, Gauthans have been constructed in the villages. Under Godhan Nyay Yojna, cow dung is being procured at Rs 2 a kg in Gauthans, through which women’s groups are preparing other products from cow dung along with manufacturing of vermi compost, super compost manure. The project of power generation from cow dung has also started in the state of Chhattisgarh. Now natural paint will be made from cow dung. 

 

On the special initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, a detailed action plan for the manufacture of natural paint has been prepared by the Agriculture Department. In the first phase, 75 Gauthans of the state have also been selected for setting up a natural paint manufacturing unit. A unit of natural paint manufacturing cum carboxy methyl cellulose manufacturing will be established in selected Gauthans. Natural Paint Manufacturing Techniques Kumarappa National Paper Institute Jaipur, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Micro, Developed by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, New Delhi. The main component of natural paint is Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC). About 10 kg of dry CMC is made from 100 kg of cow dung. CMC accounts for 30 percent of the amount of natural paint. About 30 kg of dry CMC is required to make 500 liters of natural paint. Women, skilled workers and youth of self-help groups will also be provided training by Kumarappa National Paper Institute, Jaipur for manufacturing natural paints in Gauthans.
