State Government approves 59 trains for return of migrant labourers in other states
Amount of Rs 3.74 crores paid to Railway Boards for 39 trains
Raipur, 29 May 2020.Return of labourers and other people of Chhattisgarh stranded in other states due to lockdown is being continuously facilitated. On instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Baghel and after coordinating with other state governments, nearly 59 trains have been approved till date for return of labourers and other preople.
Labour Minister Dr Shivkumar Dahariya informed that various railway boards are being sanctioned necessary funds for travelling expenses of labourers from other states to Chhattisgarh via shramik special trains. Till date, payment of Rs 3 crore 74 lakh 31 thousand 330 has been done for return of 50 thousand 797 passengers via 39 trains. He informed that till date, State Government has brought back nearly 71 thousand 712 labourers and 453 other passengers stranded in other states via 53 special shramik trains.
Dr Dahariya informed that free of cost snacks, meals, heath check-up and transport facilities have been arranged for the labourers that are reaching at the state border or passing via Chhattisgarh to reach their state, during lockdown. Any migrant labourer who is reaching at Chhattisgarh border, irrespective of the state they belong, will be treated as a guest by Chhattisgarh Government-Administration.
He informed that teams of Labour Department officials has been constituted that are making arrangements of ration and cash etc for labourers, in coordination with various industrial organizations, owners and managers. Payment of pending salaries worth nearly Rs 38 crore 26 lakh has been done to 26 thousand 205 labourers of the state. Exemptions provided in the second phase of lockdown gave employment to nearly one lakh 4 thousand labourers in economic activities and industrial areas. As many as 1390 big and small factories have started operating again.
