Raipur, 16 July 2021. In the 71 Eklavya Adarsh Residential School run by the Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Department, 10 thousand 494 students appeared in the entrance selection examination conducted on Thursday, July 15 for admission in class 6th. Examination centers were set up in 24 districts of the state for the selection test. Due to the non-conduct of class 5th examination due to Kovid epidemic this year, the conditions for obtaining 50 percent marks in class 5th in Eklavya Adarsh Residential School Entrance Selection Examination have been relaxed. This year all the students who have passed class 5th were given the freedom to appear in the selection test. Selection will be done on the basis of merit in the selection test conducted for admission in Eklavya schools. The maximum number of 1158 students appeared from Balrampur and 1004 students from Surajpur in the selection test conducted.
It is noteworthy that the main objective of starting Eklavya Adarsh Residential School is to bring the students of Scheduled Tribes at par with the students of general caste by providing quality education and to make them fit for competitive examinations by inculcating the spirit of competition. Eklavya Model Residential Schools are running from class 6th to 12th in the state. At present, 10 girls and 6 boys and 55 combined, thus a total of 71 Eklavya Model Residential Schools are running. In these, there is a provision to admit 420 children in each school from class 6th to 12th at the rate of 60 seater per class.
