Raipur, 14 August 2021. Due to the implementation of Godhan Nyay Yojana, money is pouring in to the Gauthans of Bilaspur urban area. Under the scheme, cow dung worth about Rs 26 lakh was purchased till July 31. Due to which vermi and super compost manure worth about Rs 34 lakh, along with cow wood and other products have been prepared. So far, more than 19 lakh 35 thousand products have been sold and about 15 lakh products are in the process of being ready.
Under Godhan Nyay Yojana, 13 thousand 620 quintals of cow dung was purchased from cattle rearers in four Gauthanas of Bilaspur Municipal Corporation area till July 31, 2021. Whose 100 percent has been used in the production of vermi and super compost manure as well as in making cow wood and other materials.
This scheme is being operated in the Gauthans built under Narva, Garwa, Ghurva scheme in Mopka, Tifra, Sakri and Sirgitti areas of the city. Of the dung procured in these Gauthans, 4412 quintals have been used for vermi compost, 5414 quintals for super compost production and 3794 quintals for making cow dung. Out of 732 quintals of vermi compost produced in Gauthans, 703 quintals of compost worth more than 7 lakhs have been sold. Similarly, 1,107 quintals of super compost manure was produced. Out of which 856 quintals of fertilizer worth Rs 5 lakh 14 thousand have been sold.
In Gothan, by producing cow dung from cow dung, cow slaughter worth Rs.6 lakh 62 thousand has been sold. It is being used in place of wood for burning dead bodies in the cremation ground.
Shri Rakesh Jaiswal, Deputy Commissioner, Municipal Corporation said that during the Kovid period, only cow wood was used by the Municipal Corporation to burn the infected dead bodies. People also use it for cooking in homes. It is safe for the environment as well as it is a cheap and best alternative to wood. He told that cow dung is made from cow dung during winters. For this, machines have also been made available by the Municipal Corporation in all the four Gauthans.
The amount of dividend of Rs. 5 lakh received by the self-help groups working in Gauthans from the sale of cow dung is deposited in their accounts. There are 16 women self help groups working in four Gauthans of the city. Godhan Nyay Yojana has become the best source of employment for 160 women associated with it.
