Raipur: Minister Shri Bhagat gave voluntary grant of Rs. 4.80 lakhs to the needy

Raipur, 5 February 2021. Food, Civil Supplies and Culture Minister Shri Amarjeet Bhagat participated in the block level folk dance competition held on February 5 in village Nawanagar of Ambikapur district. Minister Shri Bhagat announced to give 2-2 thousand rupees to public dancers. On this occasion, he distributed a check for 10-10 thousand rupees to 48 needy beneficiaries.

In the program, Minister Shri Bhagat said that there is a practice of ancient folk dances like Karama, Shaila, Sua in Surguja which need to be preserved and brought alive. For this, the registration of folk artists of Chhattisgarh is being done by the ‘Department of Culture’, ‘Chinhari’. He said that the Culture Department will give grants every year to the folk artists registered in ‘Chinhari’. The amount of this grant will be deposited directly into the bank account of folk artists. The nodal officer has been appointed by the Culture Department in the districts for registration of folk artists. The artists whose name will be recorded in the Culture Department will be known as folk artists.

Minister Shri Bhagat said that development level competition of Karma, Shaila and Sua dance has been organized this year to give opportunity to local folk dancers in Mainpat Mahotsav. Teams that come first at the block level will get a chance to perform at the Mainpat Festival. With this, local folk culture of Surguja will be further enhanced with local artists getting the stage. Chhattisgarh Food Commission Chairman Mr. Gurpreet Singh Babra, District Panchayat Member Smt. Anima Kerketta along with a large number of Graminjan were present on the occasion.
