Raipur, 09 June 2021. Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Smt. Anila Bhediya inspected the government seed farm, Bana, located in Dharsiwan block. He appreciated the program to produce high quality plants of various types of vegetables along with fruit plants in this farm. During this, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Chhaya Verma was with him. Minister Smt. Bhedia and MP Smt. Chhaya Verma visited the grafting nursery of fruit plants and plants prepared from high quality vegetable seeds and took information from the in-charge of the field regarding its distribution to the farmers.
The in-charge of the field told that the Horticulture Department prepares plants of different types of vegetables through seeds in the nursery, which are provided to the farmers for vegetable production at very low prices. If a farmer brings vegetable seeds to the nursery, then there is a system to prepare plants from them and make them available. He observed the cultivation of turmeric, jimmikand, beans, barbatti as well as the grafting of brinjal, amri bhaji. Minister Smt. Bhediya talked about promoting the cultivation of orchid flowers.
It is worth mentioning that in the Government Seed Multiplication Farm, Bana, the processes of making plants from seeds are done by advanced technology. A vegetable-seed multiplication unit has also been established in this centre. Bana Seed Center is built in an area of 75 acres. The Bana farm has the capacity to produce 20 million plants of different species of fruit, forestry and vegetable species every year. Here fruit-bearing, forestry and ornamental plants are prepared and made available to the farmers at the prescribed government rate. Mist chamber and polyhouse are also constructed in the centre.
