Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today participated in one-day annual convention of Gondwana Samaj at Pen Karsad Mandari at Bhanupratappur, tehsil headquarters of Kanker district, where he announced to name the medical college of Kanker after former Prime Minister late Mrs. Indira Gandhi. . On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated and performed Bhumi Pujan of 146 development works costing Rs 14 crore 47 lakh. This includes inauguration of 94 works worth Rs 09 crore 55 lakh and Bhoomipujan of 52 works worth Rs 04 crore 76 lakh. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also announced the renaming of the sports ground at Bhanupratappur after former Deputy Speaker of the Vidhansabha, late Mr. Manoj Mandavi. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, while addressing the people of Gondwana community in a conference organized at Gondwana Bhavan in Bhanupratappur, said that first of all, primitive culture emerged in the world. The state government is constantly trying to preserve the tribal culture and tradition. From 2019 till now 518 Devgudis have been constructed in the district at a cost of Rs 17 crore 82 lakh. Similarly, 173 Ghotuls were constructed at a cost of Rs 19 crore 91 lakh. Mr. Baghel said that service means service to human society, culture and nature. The work of preserving tribal culture is being done by the state government. The work of scripting all the tribal dialects of the state, preserving and saving folk dances, folk songs and traditional games is also being done. The Chief Minister said that the country’s largest millet plant has been started recently at Nathia Navagaon in Kanker district.
The Chief Minister said that our children should also be associated with modern education, for this the Swami Atmanand English Medium School Scheme has been implemented. Farmers of Kanker district sold historic 40 lakh quintals of paddy for the first time. Earlier in the state, the work of coating houses with cow dung was done, now the walls of the houses will be painted with natural paint made from cow dung. Schools that were closed in Bastar were opened, for this a budget provision of one thousand crore has been made by the state government to renovate the schools.
Excise Minister Mr. Kawasi Lakhma said in his address in the program that by promoting the cultivation of Kodo-Kutki and millets of Bastar, the state government is making efforts to make the tribals self-reliant. The government is doing the work of giving respect to the tribal tradition by making Devgudis in every village. Former Madhya Pradesh Minister Mrs. Ganga Potai, Bhanupratappur MLA Mrs. Savitri Mandavi also addressed the program. On this occasion, Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Mr. Shishupal Shorey, Antagarh MLA Mr. Anoop Nag, District Panchayat President Mr. Hemant Dhruv, Member of Tourism Board Mr. Biresh Thakur, Member of Cow Service Commission Mr. Narendra Yadav, along with Divisional Commissioner Mr. Shyam Dhavde, Inspector General of Police Mr. Sundarraj P. Collector Dr. Priyanka Shukla, SP Mr. Shalabh Sinha, DFO Mr. Alok Bajpai along with senior representatives of Gondwana society and local public representatives were present in large numbers.
