Raipur, 02 October 2021. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today attended a program organized at Mayaram Surjan Government Girls Higher Secondary School, located in Chaubey Colony, Raipur, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The Chief Minister said that this Girls Higher Secondary School would be developed as a fully equipped school on the lines of Swami Atmanand English Medium School. This school will be the first Swami Atmanand Hindi medium school in the state of Hindi medium. The Chief Minister also announced distribution of Bapu’s autobiography book ‘Satya Ke Saath Mere Prayog’ to the girl students of this school. On this occasion, the Chief Minister released the book ‘Sejesh Rainbow’, focused on the original works of the children of Swami Atmanand School and published by SCERT. He tattooed art, Awarded to the girl students who excelled in performing their talents in other works including traditional toy making. Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey, School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, School Education Secretary Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Collector Raipur Shri Saurabh Kumar were also present on this occasion.
The Chief Minister, while highlighting the personality of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, informed the school girls in detail about his journey from Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to Mahatma Gandhi. Addressing the children, the Chief Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi, during his stay in South Africa, raised his voice against the injustice being done by the British there. During this he suffered many hardships but did not sway from the campaign to get people their rights. Due to Bapu’s perseverance, the British had to bow down to him. On his return to India from South Africa, he visited India and studied the social, economic and political situation here and continued his struggle for the rights of the people. Mahatma Gandhi’s organizational power, his determination, Due to his popularity among the people, the British had to leave India. The Chief Minister also asked interesting questions related to the life of Mahatma Gandhi to the children. On being asked by the Chief Minister, the children told that today is the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri along with Bapu. Shri Shastri gave the slogan of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ to the country. On this occasion, students of the school presented Gandhi’s favorite bhajan ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ and classical dance. The Chief Minister also observed the Rangoli made by the children, science exhibition and Taekwondo performance on the occasion. Addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that in the 75th year of independence, in order to keep the values, principles, ideals and concept of ‘Gram Swaraj’ of Mahatma Gandhi intact, service on the lines of Wardha in Nava-Raipur. Village will be established. In this institute, to be developed on about 75 to 100 acres of land in Nava-Raipur, arrangements will be made for training of all types of artisans to strengthen the rural economy and to realize the dream of self-reliant village. He said that the basic education of Mahatma Gandhi would be included in the academic curriculum of classes 5th to 12th to make the new generation familiar with the ideals and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. To introduce the concept of self-reliant village of Mahatma Gandhi and village life, school children will be taken to the villages.
It is worth mentioning that the inspiration for the Seva Gram to be established in this Nava Raipur has been taken from the Sevagram located in Wardha, Maharashtra. Which was established in the year 1936 as the residence of Mahatma Gandhi and his consort Kasturba Gandhi, to lead the freedom movement in central India from there. This Wardha institution was also the center of reconstruction of rural India as per the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Chief Minister said that Gandhiji believed that village reform was the only option to permanently improve the conditions of India. Now in the 21st century, according to the same dreams of Mahatma Gandhi, Seva-Gram is being established in Nava-Raipur to carry forward the work of village reform. This service-gram will be constructed using natural materials like clay, lime, stone. This project will inspire to remember and adopt Gandhi-philosophy. Along with this, the memories of the freedom movement and the national history will also be kept alive through this institute of Nava Raipur.
The Chief Minister said that centers of Gandhian principles, rural arts and crafts would be developed in the proposed Sevagram in Raipur, where guidance would be given by guest subject-experts. Along with this, old age homes and schools for the underprivileged will also be established there. Its objective is to empower the local people by promoting tourism opportunities, promoting the folk arts of Chhattisgarh, providing second home to the elderly and creating a world class system in Chhattisgarh for ideological exchange. The proposed ‘Visitors Centre’ at Sewa-Gram will be a center for learning, living and remembering Gandhi’s principles. Shri Baghel said that Chhattisgarh is known for its unique arts and crafts. Bell metal, iron, terracotta, stone, in Bastar, Raigarh and other districts of Chhattisgarh Various artistic items are made using cloth and bamboo. Sevagram will be a place where visitors will be able to learn about local arts and crafts, local cuisine. You can share your information and experiences. Seva Gram will also have an open theater where cultural programs will be organized.
The Chief Minister said that now in Chhattisgarh, basic education of Mahatma Gandhi will be included in the academic curriculum of classes 5th to 12th to make the new generation aware of the ideals and principles of Mahatma Gandhi and for their all-round development. School children will be given a tour of the village. So that they can understand the concept of self-reliant village of Gandhiji and get acquainted with rural life. During the tour, children will be told about Narva, Garuva, Ghuruwa and Bari in detail under the ambitious Suraji Gaon Yojana. With this, school children will be able to get information on the rural economy as well as on topics like water conservation and soil conservation and they will be able to understand the idea of a self-reliant village.
