Raipur, 10 December 2020. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today paid a heartfelt tribute to Shahid Veer Narayan Singh by reaching his home village Sonakhan in Balodabazar district on the occasion of Martyrdom Day. Mr. Baghel paid floral tributes at the Veer Narayan Singh memorial built on Veerbhoomi in Sonakhan and paid obeisance to him. The Chief Minister paid courtesy visits to the descendants of Veer Narayan Singh at his residence and got to know his condition. He also paid public respect to the martyr family members by offering them shawl and quince. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to increase the pension amount being given to the descendants of the martyr under the Freedom Struggle Sainik Samman Yojana to 10 thousand rupees per month. Earlier, they used to get pension of only Rs.1000 per month. 
The Chief Minister has erected a permanent staircase for easy access to the Kurupath Devsthal, including the installation of a huge statue of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh in the joint district office building complex of District Headquarters, Balodabazar, renovation of the houses of the descendants of the martyr and Shaheed Veer Narayan in Sonakhan A life-size statue of Singh has also been announced. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel made these announcements while addressing the Veer Madai Mela organized as a tribute meeting on the martyrdom day of Shaheed Veeranarayan Singh. On this occasion, Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Mr. Premasai Singh Tekam, Urban Administration and Development Minister Mr. Shiv Kumar Dahria, Food Minister Mr. Amarjit Bhagat, Minister of Women and Child Development Department, Mrs. Anila Bhendia, Parliamentary Secretary and Local MLA Mr. Chandradev Rai Kasdol MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Ms. Shakuntala Sahu,

    The Chief Minister said that due to non-availability of gunny bags during the Corona period, we started purchasing paddy from December 1. Till now the gunny bags have not been received from the Central Jute Commissioner. After making arrangements at the local level, we have decided to use plastic gunny bags. There will be no shortage of gunny bags. There is no need to worry the farmers for this. On behalf of the farmers, I myself have engaged in the system, worrying about it.
     Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Shivkumar Dahria while paying homage to Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh said that in times of famine, he took the iron for nourishing the poor people. He said that due to the farmer-friendly schemes of the state government, farmers as well as traders have prospered. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Amarjit Bhagat said that the State Government is committed to carry forward the honor and heritage of tribals. We gave new leases to the people after hearing again on the revoked forest rights pattas. Increase the purchase price of forest produce. Today 52 minor forest produce are being procured by the State Government. Whereas before this only 7 forest produce were purchased. The purchase price of tendupatta has been increased from Rs 2500 to Rs 4000 per standard bag. Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Chandradev Rai also addressed the function. Collector Mr. Sunil Jain gave the welcome address. Additional Collector Shri Rajendra Gupta thanked at the end of the ceremony. On this occasion, President of Farmers Welfare Council Mr. Surendra Sharma, District Panchayat Balodabazar President Mr. Rakesh Verma, former MLA Mr. Janakaram Verma, Commissioner Mr. GR Churendra, IG Anand Chhabra and a large number of public representatives and tribal people were present.
