Meeting Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, Shri Subhash Tripathi, father of martyr Colonel Viplav Tripathi, had a courtesy meeting at the State Guest House, Pahuna. During the meeting, he informed that the statue of Martyr Colonel Shri Viplav Tripathi has been installed in front of Colonel Viplav Tripathi Stadium by Martyr Colonel Viplav Tripathi Memorial Trust in Raigarh. A memorial plaque has also been installed. Shri Tripathi invited the Chief Minister to attend the statue unveiling program.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the brave son of Raigarh district, Martyr Colonel Viplav Tripathi, has sacrificed his life for the defense of the country. His martyrdom will always guide us. It will be an honor for me to be present at the unveiling of his statue. During this, martyr Colonel Tripathi’s maternal uncle Shri Rajesh Patnaik and Gokul Patnaik were also present.
It is noteworthy that Colonel Tripathi had taken commission in Kumaon Regiment in the year 2003. He worked in various postings like Siachen, Kupwara, Nowshera, Congo, Mathura, Wellington etc. On 13 November 2021, he along with his wife Anuja and son Abir attained martyrdom while saving their soldiers in an ambush by separatist groups in Bihang bordering Myanmar, fighting till the last bullet.
