Inauguration of the three-day Baiga Children’s Festival
Chhattisgarh Government Committed to Add Baiga Society to Mainstream of Development
Raipur, 20 February 2021. Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Dr. Premasai Singh Tekam duly inaugurated the three-day Baiga Mahotsava in the remote and inaccessible Vananchal village Chhindidih of Baiga dominated Pandaria Vikaskhas in Kabirdham district. Inaugurating the Baiga Bal Mahotsav, Minister Dr. Tekam visited the exhibition of material of local forest produce resources and also danced with the Baiga tribals while participating in song and music with the Baiga dancer parties. Minister Dr. Tekam also distributed a check of 45 thousand rupees to three different Baiga dancers. Baiga Bal Mahotsava is being organized by Baiga Samaj and Astha Samiti for the 11th consecutive year.
Minister Dr. Tekam said at the inauguration of Baiga Bal Mahotsav that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, along with the culture of special backward tribes residing in the state, and their conservation and promotion, brought many important things to bring society into the mainstream of development Decisions have been taken. Five special backward tribes Baiga, Abujhmadia, Kamar, Pahari Korba and Birhor reside in the state of Chhattisgarh. Special agency has been formed for the development of all these special backward tribes. Important decisions have been taken by the state government to save the art-culture of special backward tribes. He said that to preserve the specialness and importance of Baiga dialect, a text book has been published in the Bagani language. Now the children here are studying the book in their language too. Minister Dr. Tekam said that Kabirdham district is the first district in the state, Where hundreds of educated young men and women of Baiga community have been educated and selected as school Sangwari and have been linked to employment. As a result of the policy of the state government, today young men and women of the Baiga society are teaching children in schools.
Minister Dr. Tekam said that for the economic and social development of people living for centuries between Vananchal and the forests is conducting many schemes. Apart from this, policies have been formulated for harvesting forest produce to make them economically strong and locally employed. Forest produce, The support price of Mahua has been increased from Rs 17 to Rs 30 per kg. Tendupatta collection remuneration rate has been increased from Rs 25 hundred to Rs 4 thousand directly. Due to the new arrangement for the purchase of small forest produce in 856 hot markets across the state, millions of forest dwellers from the state’s farmers have been getting direct benefits. He said that to give benefit of social security to Tendupatta collectors by the Government of Chhattisgarh, Shaheed Mahendra Karma Tendupatta Collector Social Security Scheme has been prepared. Under this scheme, about 12 lakh 50 thousand collectors families engaged in Tendupatta collectors are getting social security benefits under this scheme. He said that on the death of the head of the collector family, there is a provision of Rs 4 lakh to his successor.
