Chief Minister unveils the
statue of Mahatma Gandhi, who runs a charkha at Jaitasauva Math

The important contribution of Jatusav Math in the freedom struggle and awakening ideological revolution in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, 30 January 2021. On the occasion of the Martyrdom Day of Mahatma Gandhi on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel unveiled a statue of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in the premises of the old township in the old township of Mahatma Gandhi. On the unveiling of the statue, he said that Mahatma Gandhi has given the whole world the great message of unity, equality and humanity. His message is relevant even today for the welfare of the entire human race. In the program, Rajeshree Mahant Ramasundarandas handed over a check of one lakh 51 thousand rupees collected on behalf of Jaitavava Math on the occasion of Chherchera festival to the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The Chief Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi was a priest of truth and non-violence. He made harmony in the whole society by making it a weapon and giving freedom to the country. Jatusav monastery of Raipur in Chhattisgarh has been a major center of the freedom movement, it is a matter of pride for us. Gandhiji gave the message of unity of the society including the freedom movement agitators and important topics like untouchability and women’s upliftment to unite it. He said that the Jatusav monastery is not only the center of a religious faith but also has a unique identity as a political and historical heritage. Apart from Mahatma Gandhi, great freedom fighters like former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mrs. Indira Gandhi and former President Dr. Rajendra Prasad arrived here. This shows how old the Jatusava monastery has been in the freedom struggle and in awakening the ideological revolution.

The Chief Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi gave the message of humanity, love and brotherhood today, it is relevant even today. In the present era, efforts are being made to fragment the ideology of Gandhiji. The Chief Minister said that to take forward the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, there is a need to resolve to fight. It is necessary for the unity, progress and development of the country that we all stay away from hatred. He called upon the youth to take a pledge to keep away the feeling of disharmony and alienation.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Gau Seva Commission, Rajeshree Mahant Ramasundarandas said that the Jaitavav monastery has been the center of freedom movement in Chhattisgarh. Many national level leaders, including the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, arrived here in this context. It was from this platform that Gandhiji gave the mantra of independence of the country to the agitators. He also ran a charkha in this compound. Where a bronze statue has been installed, driving his spinning wheel. Gandhiji’s statue will inspire the coming generations to adopt their ideology. MLA and Trust Deputy Chairman Shri Satyanarayana Sharma informed about the work being done by the Math in the social interest.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister visited the photo exhibition based on various events related to the life of the Father of the Nation in Jaitowo Monastery. The exhibition was organized by the District Public Relations Office Raipur. The Chief Minister released Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Chhattisgarh in the program, January thirty-nineteen ninety eight and the January issue of Chhattisgarh Mitra Monthly magazine. On this occasion, he gave remarkable services to the Padma Shri Nelson and Trust of Bhilai, who built Gandhiji’s statue, Mr. Vyasnarayan Agrawal, Mr. Sakhi Gopal Agrawal, Mr. Vijay Dani, Dr. Revaram Yadu, Mr. Manik Chandrakar, Mr. R.K. Gupta, Dr.V.K. Aggarwal, Shri Avanindra Nath Thakur and Shri Virendra Bhushan were honored by giving them shawls and quince.
