Maha Abhiyan is going on to bring light again in the lives of people in Chhattisgarh

A big campaign has been started with the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to eradicate blindness in Chhattisgarh. In this campaign, a target has been set to restore the eyesight of about 4 lakh cataract patients. For this, extensive preparations have been started in all the districts. The operation of cataract patients has been started. In this campaign, a resolution has been taken to make Chhattisgarh a cataract free state by 2025.
The list of visually impaired patients is being prepared by Mitanins and Anganwadi workers. Adequate number of doctors and necessary staff have been deployed in the district hospital for the operation. There is also provision for cataract operation along with eye examination of the patients. Arrangements have also been made for vehicles to pick up and transport cataract patients. Adequate number of beds have also been arranged for the admission of patients after the operation. Apart from the operation, free arrangement of spectacles and medicines is also being made to the patients along with consultation for eye care. Apart from this, people are being made aware about the care of the eyes and the treatment about the diseases of the eyes. People are also being made aware in local dialect regarding eye disease and eye care in Bastar region.

Pandu gets emotional after seeing people again after 20 years

Oyami Pandu, a resident of Koyabekur in Sukma district, spent 20 years of his life in darkness. When his eyesight returned after his cataract operation, his happiness knew no bounds. When Pandu again saw the colors of the world, he counted in enthusiasm, thanked the doctor and with his shining eyes the eagerness to return to his village was also clearly visible in Pandu.
Oyami Pandu told that due to ageing, gradually the eyesight started decreasing, due to which he was not able to do the work of his daily life. Initially, he also went to Baiga-Guniya and also consumed indigenous medicines. Even after several attempts, his eyesight did not return. Pandu told that due to loss of eyesight, the work of farming was not being done.
Oyami Pandu further explains that since Roshni left, he had become dependent on his wife and sons for every work. His wife Kosi also could not see with one eye, which has also been operated on. After cataract operation, now both of us are able to see very well. We are very happy to have eyesight like before. Now my wife will be able to do household chores well and I will go to do farming with my sons. Pandu while getting emotional said that cataract operation has given a new colorful life and for this I express my gratitude to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel ji.

State Nodal Officer for Blindness Prevention Program Dr. Subhash Mishra informed that continuous efforts are being made to make Chhattisgarh a Cataract Blindness Free State. The victims are being treated through the state-of-the-art “Phaco” technology of cataract treatment. In this method of operation, only a small hole is made in the eye, through which the cataract is dissolved inside the eye itself. It is through this hole that the foldable lens is implanted inside the eye.
