Raipur: Lok Sabha Elections-2024: Since the model code of conduct came into effect in the state, cash and goods worth Rs 2.84 crore have been seized by the surveillance teams.

Since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect for the Lok Sabha general elections in the state, illegal money and items worth Rs 2 crore 84 lakh have been seized. According to the information received from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, cash amounting to Rs 95 lakh has been seized till March 21 during monitoring by the enforcement agencies. During this period, 7229 liters of illicit liquor has been seized, which is worth Rs 16 lakh. During the intensive investigation operation, 346 kg of drugs worth Rs 92 lakh and 840 grams of precious jewelery and gems worth Rs 52 lakh were also seized. Apart from these, other materials worth Rs 29 lakh have also been seized.

Chief Electoral Officer Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale has issued necessary guidelines to all the District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police regarding taking necessary action to maintain law and order during the Lok Sabha General Elections. In compliance with these guidelines, illegal transportation and storage of money and goods is being closely monitored through various enforcement agencies in the state. Under the Model Code of Conduct applicable in the state, the process of intensive investigation by the monitoring teams is going on continuously.
