Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey today attended the “Peace Conference” organized by Ekta Parishad Chhattisgarh on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and World Peace Day at Tilda. He said that life of Mahatma Gandhi is a philosophy. We learn lessons from every aspect of his life. Gandhiji was a staunch advocate of truth and non-violence. Gandhiji had urged to adopt cleanliness. They used to say that if a person is not clean, he cannot remain healthy. Ms. Uikey said that on this occasion, take a pledge to follow the path of peace and non-violence as laid down by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on this occasion.
The Governor said that under the leadership of Shri Rajagopal ji, the Ekta Parishad organized a padyatra in 100 districts of 12 states, which started on 21st September on the occasion of World Non-Violence Day and is ending on 2nd October. I convey my best wishes to Shri Rajagopal ji for such a great initiative. He appreciated the Ekta Parishad saying that they are traveling for a good cause. The reward they will get from them will definitely help in establishing an atmosphere of peace and justice in the country.
The Governor said that when I came into politics from social life, I saw the plight of the lower strata of the society closely. That’s when I felt condolences and thought of taking the initiative to remove their pain. I went among the tribal society and saw that the schemes of the government reached them and they also got benefits.
The Governor said that when I was the Vice-Chairman of the National Tribal Commission, I found that the land of tribals had been acquired in Rourkela over the years and they did not even get adequate compensation. I helped them get compensation. I also directed the government to give their pending remuneration and bonus amount to the tendu patta collectors of Chhattisgarh. He said that our state is facing the problem of Naxalism. To solve this problem, I have suggested that the tribal heads of the society and the local chiefs of that areas should work in confidence. There must be some way to solve this problem. I hope that soon you can get rid of this problem. He said that our state is a tribal area. Most of its area comes under the Fifth Schedule. I have asked the government to make rules under this schedule. This will give great relief to the tribal society.
The poster of More Responsibility Campaign was also released in the program. On this occasion, the founders of Ekta Parishad Shri Rajagopal and Shri Chandan Kumar also gave their speech.
